From DAVIDsTEA

It’s back!

In the 1950s, Saigon cinnamon was one of the finest spices on the market. But then came the Vietnam War, and exports ground to a halt. Half a century later, it’s finally comeback time. Prepare for dark, sweet perfection. This blend of Assam tea, cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, cloves and pink peppercorns is on another level of delicious. Try it iced, Viet-style, with sweetened condensed milk. (MK Kosher)

Organic: Fair Trade Certified Assam black tea, Saigon cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, cloves, pink peppercorns. With organic and natural flavouring*.

I found it to be weak in flavor, just a hint of cinnamon and cloves is all I really taste. I may have added a little bit too much milk (this may be one black tea that is better without milk!) so next time I’ll just steep for a long time and not add anything. I will readjust my rating on my next steep after I see how it goes.

Bagged

I needed a touch more tea. Nicely spicy and warm.

I’m shocked that I enjoyed this as much as I did – a nice surprise. I may even buy some of this. A pleasant all around flavor, enjoyable on just about any type of a day.

Finishing this off. I got a bunch of this free during their chai promotion. I would have preferred pumpkin chai but that wasn’t allowed so I thought I would try this one. It’s okay but not great. It will help warm you up on a cold winter day or clear out your sinuses. But I’ll be honest my favourite is still pumpkin chai followed by S’mores chai.

I went in for the tea press/free tin deal at my local store last night and they had barely any tins to choose from, so I ended up with this one. The ingredients seemed nice? A creamy spicy chai? Nope. I’d recommend this to someone who doesn’t really like chai, since it’s a bit nondescript. It’s okay. I’m a chai fan so it’s so…..unspectacular. I should have just grabbed a second tin of Just Peachy. Sigh.

Boy do I miss my Teavana Maharaj chai. No chai has satisfied me since and this Saigon chai is no different. I like my chai to be strong, to have a nice bite to it. Alas, teavana shit up shop here in Canada and I didn’t know until it was too late.

This Saigon chai is weak. Pathetically week. No amount of tea made it strong emough. I’m so disappointed. I am ready to pay the outrageous exchange and shipping to get my beloved Maharsj chai from the US.

Trying to force down the Saigon as I type this and I can tell it’s going to end up down the sink. I’m not s fan of David’s tea but had higher hopes for this.

Decided to try this since I started like chai tea lattes. I’m not usually a big fan of chai but some of them are okay. This one is quite nice with a little bit of milk and sugar in it. I taste the cinnamon, ginger first and the other spices secondly. It’s not too spicy, which I appreciate. It’s a nice tea to enjoy once in a while – and especially on a cold day spent indoors!

Not my favorite chai, but it isn’t bad. The chai flavor isn’t incredibly strong, but I do like the unique peppery aspect.

This was another of the 24 Days of Tea from David’s. It certainly looked like a good spicy chai. There were whole cloves in the leaf and some bright read teeny berries. Very pretty. I had no problem with it. I am not going to rate it though, since my flu has completely blocked my nose and I tasted nothing. On the plus side, I did not taste bitterness or sourness. When your throat is this dry and sore from coughing, a nice warm liquid feels good.

Just to be whiney, I am so tired of being sick. In fact, I’m just tired. If I take a slightly deeper than normal breath I cough. My ribs actually ache from it. The doctor told me if I didn’t feel significantly better by Sunday I should call. Dang it. I don’t feel better. But it’s only Friday. maybe tomorrow is the day I turn the corner. Meanwhile, off to sit in my chair and stare blankly at the TV.

The tiny red berries are actually tiny little red peppercorns! ^^
