From DAVIDsTEA

A magical scent

Made from premium green tea, our Silk Dragon is a limited-edition treasure. To create it, night-blooming jasmine is gathered in the morning and kept cool all day. In the evening, when the flowers burst open and release their scent, they are placed with the tea until midnight. This is repeated with fresh flowers over the course of five nights, infusing the tea with a most magical flavour.

This is very… average. I feel as though it tastes the same as the Jasmine Dragon Pearls from Teavana. If I compared the two side-by-side, I’d probably notice a difference, but there’s really nothing remarkable about this tea.
It’s fairly heavily scented with jasmine which gives it a drier sort of mouthfeel. The green tea is sweet underneath, and it blends well.
It’s just nothing new.

EDIT: I like it a lot better on a second steeping. Maybe it’s because the water’s cooler, or maybe because it’s not as strong… I really don’t know what the temp/time was, since I just let it sit while I picked up a few chores. But it tastes sweeter and clearer now. I’m enjoying this cup. I probably won’t buy it again, but at least I have a ballpark idea of how to brew better tea.

I was very unimpressed by this one myself, and I love most jasmine teas, but this was just disappointing.

I agree. It was just meh. It wasn’t bad, but I’ve had better.

Green Tea – Jasmine Style just about sums this one up. Not bad…but not my favorite either…

So I got this for the $1 straight tea deal,
at first it didn’t taste any different than the Shopper’s Drugmart life brand tea bags I have… and it was overbrewed because I wanted to keep the bag in my cup when I walked back to work.. which was of course like a 5 minute+ walk, teagods forbid..
and whoof it was syruppy jasmine suuuper strong from the overbrew.

But I couldn’t stop sipping it. And it made my tummy feel really really good. And.. I just couldn’t stop. Something about this tea… I don’t know if I can rate it until I (ever) try it again

If you ask nicely (and explain you’re going to work) they’ll give you the hot water and the bag of tea separate and you can steep when you get there!

Oh awesome, never thought of that! Ill ask next time for sure :-)

I drank this before but never noted it in here. Now I’m trying it again, I am a sucker for jasmine teas. I put this in an airtight tin but when I opened it it seemed rather stale. There wasn’t any sort of aroma, no tea scent, no jasmine scent. But it can’t be stale, I just bought this a few weeks ago. So, I brew it up and i get an aroma, but not one I was hoping for. The wet leaves smells like jasmine, but artificial jasmine, and I’m still not getting the green tea base. I take a few sips, not bad. The jasmine is mellow and not as artificial tasting. The green tea is there, definitely not premium, and it has a slight astringency. This isn’t a bad jasmine, it’s nice, but not $7 for 50 grams. I feel like you could easily find similar quality to this in the grocery store. Not bad, but not exactly premium either.

I forgot to mention how terribly broken the leaves are, not a whole one in the bunch.

Day 9 of the 24 Days of Tea

Okay it’s green, it’s jasmine… that’s all? It’s more delicate than the tea I have that’s 3.00 at the grocery store but that could be because it’s better quality green tea. Either way it didn’t wow me and it didn’t make me feel I’d need to buy it… too expensive for what you get.

This sample was sent to me by ThePurrfectCup. Many thanks!

I made this a little on the weak side, mostly because I was being greedy and wanted a bigger pot than the sample was supposed to make. That didn’t matter, though, this is lovely just as it is! The green tea base is mild and smooth, and leans toward the grassy rather than the buttery side. The jasmine is just right for me. The first jasmine I ever had was horrific so I thought I didn’t like jasmine. Thank goodness I tried other kind because now I find them soothing and oh so good. This is a very good one. Quite nice! Thank you!

Meh. I’m trying to think of something awesomely clever to say about this one, but all that’s coming to mind is…meh. I just got my steeper in the mail, and this was one of the samples that came with it. It’s not bad, it just doesn’t strike me as all that great either. It’s green tea and jasmine, nothing extraordinary here.

This type of green tea is my absolute favorite. I decided to get this instead of the two other options from David’s: Butterfly Jasmine and Dragon Pearls. This is a bit cheaper, and I have faith that it still tastes good. Besides, unless I am brewing those in a glass teapot I can’t see it unfurl. Hence why I picked this tea over the other two, because I don’t mind if it doesn’t look fancy.

Anyways, this didn’t disappoint me. I like it because it takes green tea (which is enjoyable by itself) and adds a nice floral taste to it (not too little, not too much). I’m normally not a fan of flowers and tea, especially rose and lavender. But I love the smell of jasmine and it tastes fantastic with green tea. To me, this is not a “refreshing” tea its a relaxing tea.

In the future, I may buy a small pouch (25g) of the Butterfly Jasmine just to discover if it tastes much different. When I run out of Silk Dragon Jasmine tea I will most certainly refill my tin. Like I said earlier, this type is one of my favorites and it is going to stay in my permanent collection.

1yr reflection: Wow I can’t believe I liked this one so much… because it’s not that good. Removed rating

I’m struggling to finish the last few cups left of this tea. I LOVE jasmine and green tea, but there is just something up with this blend that is not impressing me at all. This is the first jasmine green I’ve tried that tastes like soap. Do not want. There are so many better kinds of jasmine green out there. DT, you can’t be perfect; I still love you though.

I received this tea as a sample. When I first opened the pouch, the I was a little surprised at the strength of the jasmine. Then again, I hadn’t had jasmine tea in a while. I was on an oolong kick (and still am). However, as I sip this tea, it brings back a sense of nostalgia. I grew up in a tea drinking family and jasmine green tea was an early favorite. It’s like finding an old teddy bear.

As for the quality of the tea, it is very smooth with a slight bitterness. Generally, I don’t like bitter, but jasmine scented greens wouldn’t taste right without the bitter note. And though this is not the highest quality tea out there, it is very good. It lacks the astringent harshness that lesser leaves tend to deliver.

I am very pleased with this tea and will probably gladly order more if I ever get through all the other teas in my cabinet. My husband has banned me from ordering more tea since I’ve got enough to last several years. :( I think I need to do some tea swaps…
