From DAVIDsTEA

Worth singing about
We’ll never forget the day Jessie Farrell came into our store looking for lavender tea. The red-headed country star was on a quest. She wanted something comforting, energizing and antioxidant-filled that she could drink all day long. Together, we came up with this pretty blend of lavender, rooibos, coconut and cornflowers. Try it. You’ll understand why she wrote a song about it.

Price per 50g: $7.50

This smells EXACTLY like the last bottle of sunscreen I bought! I’m guessing it’s the coconut. Though this really sounds weird, it’s not a bad thing in itself; while sunscreen is far from appetizing, the smell itself is pretty nice, and brings back good memories.

Steeped, the coconut I got from the smell is still there, but the lavender comes out a lot more! The combination of the two works nicely, and it’s a relief to see the balancing done right. I remember the now defunct Lavender Zen tea from DT, which was way overpowered by bitter lavender, and it wasn’t too pleasant. Here, the balance is good, and the mint adds just what was needed for- wait, there’s no mint? Well, go wonder! It feels like there’s some, and it feels good! The tea also seems very creamy, probably thanks to the coconut. I like!

What brand of sunscreen was that? I want to get it now x3

Eisenherz

Hahaha! I’m pretty sure the brand was Hawaiian Tropic, it was a spray bottle and it was blue… but I have no idea if we can find it here in Canada, I was in a different country when I bought it! I’m guessing there is a chance, since the brand is most probably multinational. Good luck finding it! lol

Dazaii

It will be my quest….thanks!! ;D

Daisy Chubb

Yes Hawaiian Tropic! The most delicious of sunscreens.

This is probably my favourite rooibos blend. This is the first one I go for when I want a tea later in the evening. I love my caffeine, so I tend to go for black or mate blends throughout the day. But when I want something creamy and soothing at night this is perfect.

I love the combo of the sweet coconut with the herbal lavender, and they’re wonderful atop the rooibos & honeybush base. It’s delicious on its own or with a splash of milk and sugar. I’ve yet to try it iced, but I can see it being pretty decent. I will always have this on hand, better than any supposed relaxing tea I’ve tried.

TheKesser

I’ve been meaning to try this one for… well, about a year now. I have a sample here, but the lavender has made me nervous. This review makes it sound wonderful! I’ll have to try it now.

softrevolution

I hope you like it! I find the lavender to be pretty subtle. I was unsure about it before I tried it..I thought the flavours would be weird together, but they really work :)

not a tasting note so much as a…. bath note? i threw two tea sacs of this into a steaming hot bath this afternoon and emerged soft, smelling amazing and waaaay more relaxed than any bubble bath ever. also, because it’s just rooibos, lavender and coconut i was able to hang out with my bird while i was in the tub without worrying about him coming into contact with harmful chemicals

TeaLady441

That’s a neat idea!

Teavangelical

it was super relaxing. however i might have played with the tea sacs a bit too much with my toes as i broke them and now have a tub full of rooibos pieces. note to anyone who does this, make sure it’s sealed as tightly as it can be and don’t play around with it too much if you care about having a bunch of tiny leaves in your bathtub.

Mmmmm, soapy. :/ Another tea that I’m going to give another go before rating, since I was a bit distracted by ALL THE DISHES EVER and oversteeped a bit. So, we’ll see. Because it smells AMAZING and I definitely want to try it again, but… yuck.

Weird ETA Uhhhhh this is growing on me as it cools? IDEK.

TeaLady441

Weird. I was curious about it because I’d heard good things, but I’ll have to see how you rate.

Soapy… Not a selling point!

Ozli

Yeah, I’ll probably try it again today! Lots of lavender.

Crowkettle

I usually enjoy this one, but history and roses have apparently shown that I enjoy drinking soapy things.

Ozli

Yeah, I made it again last night for a shorter steep and I don`t know, it keeps growing on me…. it`s WEIRD but I like it? Probably not enough to re-order it, but it’s a nice relaxing bedtime tea.

Ended up biting the bullet and got a 50g bag in my last order. A very weird day today, so this seemed like the perfect night time post workout tea. And it was! Very tasty, and my bag seems to have more lavender in it than the sample tin from the advent calendar! Hmmm….. Taking away all the craziness from my Monday. Thank you, Jessie Farrell!

TheTeaFairy

I just made a cold brew of this one, never had it before iced, it’s really good!

TassieTeaGirl

Yeah? I’ll have to try it iced then! Thanks!

1 TB for 450mL water, bare.

Received as a sample in a recent order …

Just not for me. Dang, I really want to like this one. But: NO discernible lavender scent or taste, and really minty rooibos. Overall, this tisane tastes to me like toothpaste that’s been rubbed up against old damp wood.

And I can’t get the scent out of my silicone travel-mug cover. I understand toothpaste may help …

If you like that odd minty quality some red roobios has, you’ll liely enjoy this blend. I wish I did, because rooibos and lavender is a potent and insanely healthy combo.

From the GCTTB. Yet another DT tea that I’ve been meaning to try, I was a touch uncertain of this one given the amount of lavender in it but as I’m still looking to flesh out my caffeine free options it was certainly worth a shot.

The dry tea is filled with lavender and coconut scents, it’s a lovely, soothing combination. There’s also a nice undertone from the honeybush which gives a bit of sweetness without being too heavy. The flavor is very different; creamy and soothing, the lavender gives a nice subtle flavor that in combination with the honeybush ends up tasting a bit like wildflower honey (without being super sweet). The coconut gives an interesting bit of freshness, complementing the honey/lavender combination in a very flavorful way. I actually don’t get too many notes from the rooibos, those that do come through blend well with the rest of the flavor profile.

I really enjoyed this tea, it’s quite different from most other rooibos blends that I’ve tried. I think I’ll end up picking some of this up for myself some time soon.

Yay! I am so glad someone included this in the box. Honestly I was hesitant about this blend as well but it came highly recommended by the sales lady and so I tried it and fell in love.

After my other tea fiascos this evening, I wanted to try something that I could easily see – yes, this will help me fall asleep. Rooibos, lavender, coconut? Odd combo, however it sounded like this might do the trick. Bought 20g to try it out, and after making a liter of tea (4 cups), there’s enough for just one more cup – so into the swap/gift box it went.

I was surprised by the smell, having yet to smell lavender and coconut together. Reminded me of floral sunscreen, which is okay. Unfortunately, it tastes like floral sunscreen to me, which is something other than what I wanted. Maybe I’ve been spoiled by the other amazing coconut teas of late, however this coconut tastes… too creamy. Does that even make sense? I cook with coconut oil almost exclusively and eat a tremendous amount of coconut milk in my curries, so I like to think I’m pretty familiar with coconut. Maybe it’s the oil/buttery feel from the flavoring, coupled with the lavender and coconut?

While moderately sweet already, I had to add some Truvia. Yea, the coconut comes out more clearly now, but the darn oil slick on top… yes, I can actually see it, even though I have a huge black mug.

It’s drinkable, however I’ll purchase other teas in the future.

I received this in a swap a while back, not entirely sure from who, and finally got around to a pot if it. I needed tea & can only drink herbals at this hour. it’s been raining all day, I’m super blah, tired & irritated, thus I need tea.

I really expected to hate this tea. I don’t hate it, but I also don’t love it. considering this has lavender I really enjoy it way more than I expected. I get mostly lavender with a touch of creamy coconut. this would be a really nice bedtime tea.

I’ll finish what i have, but probably wouldn’t buy it. as a side note, my daughter really seemed to enjoy it.

Hummm. I had high hopes for this, I mean, I like Rooibos, I like Coconut and I’m guessing the lavender was a wild card. It wasn’t very earthy like most rooibos’ i’m used to, and it had a hint of mint, almost a cooling feeling as you drank it. It was just an odd combination. It was really coconutty, which is really fine for me, but the lavender did something odd to the end result.
