Ok – last ear infection update! (Not a super tea focused tasting note, tbh)
I ended up going to a walk in clinic on Saturday because of the pain/discomfort I was in and I got some antibiotic ear drops prescribed to me. However, I had a very bad reaction to them and the swelling in my ear got even worse – far worse. The best I can describe it is to imagine you’re flying in a plane, and you have the pressure build up in your ear that most people do things like chew gum to try to “pop”. However, in this case that pressure just kept building up and up and up, and I couldn’t “pop” it. It was very, very painful so finally at about 2AM on Sunday morning I went to the ER, and while waiting to be seen my eardrum ruptured…
I basically ended up losing my work week while I recovered at home, and I didn’t really do much of anything during my recovery days. I spent most of that time just lying in bed trying to stay as still as humanly possible, as any kind of movement on that side of my head caused me immense pain. I drank very, very little tea – getting up was too painful and too much effort, and to be fair I largely just wasn’t in the mood anyway.
There will be some long term recovery – my hearing in my right ear is off, worse than before. I’ve been assured that it will return to normal over time, as the eardrum heals. That’s the scariest part for me; having no control over that and needing to just have faith in waiting. I’ve never been good with faith…
This was one of very few teas I drank during the “peak” of my recovery period – I seemed to have leaned really heavily towards mint teas, probably because they’re often so soothing. I don’t remember anything about the taste of this tea, but I do recall the steam from the steeped cup of tea feeling really good on my face.
Friendly reminder that I do not numerically rate DAVIDsTEA blends as I’m currently employed there and it would be an obvious conflict of interest. Any blends you see with numerical ratings were rated prior to my employment there. These reviews are a reflection of my personal thoughts and feelings regarding the teas, and not the company’s.
Yes I reserve this one for when I have an upset stomach, along with peppermint.
makes sense.. the taste isn’t something i can imagine people actually craving!
