From David's Tea

We don’t like to brag, but we’re pretty sure we just found the key to achieving nirvana. It’s easier than you might think – you’re actually just a cup away. You start with a fresh, delicate mix of white and green tea. Then you sprinkle in a few jasmine pearls for their sweet, floral perfume. Next, you add the unexpected fruity aroma of some beautiful white hibiscus blossoms. Finally? You sit back, relax and take a sip. Heavenly…

Found a sample while clearing out the cabinet, so I had to give it a try. The pouch insisted I was supposed to put the whole thing in the infuser…2 tsp seemed a bit much, so I compensated by dropping the steep time drastically.

It was…underwhelming, again. Smelled fruity, but it didn’t really come through (even with a longer 1.5 min second steep) and just tasted like a lacklustre green. I’m willing to assume that the issue might’ve been with my steeps, so I’ll hold off on rating this one officially.

I won’t be buying it again, though.

When brewed correctly, this is one of my favorite teas to indulge in. I love the peachy floral notes in this delicate cup. It definitely is temperamental, and easy to turn into a bitter mess with oversteeping. That said, I keep the water relatively cool and steep time quick.

Sipdown no. 10 of May 2019 (no. 72 of 2019 total, no. 560 grand total). A sample.

Another sample of this, and I’m grateful to it for enabling me to squeak by in achieving my monthly sipdown goal. With this, I hit 10 for May.

I like it better this time. Bumping the rating.

A great green and white blend. Very light and fresh, and the floral notes are not at all overpowering.

Will try it iced with lemon and honey and post back.

(Western style) Not very good hot, preferred iced but still not great. Go gentle on this tea because it is not forgiving and will release plenty of bitterness

Flavors: Astringent, Mint, Pear, Sour

Tried a sample packet meant for one cup and it was delicious but very strong! I would use less leaves than the recommended amount.

I wanted to like this but just couldn’t. It was too bitter for my tastes.

Cold steeped this in the fridge a few days ago. This is really good cold! I still taste a bright fruit, peach or lychee like at the beginning of the sip. It then goes into a strong floral like rose, but with the bite that jasmine can get. The aftertaste has an immediate green bite, then fades into a floral. This reminds me a little of a Fauchon tea that I really liked iced in the summer. Not quite as well balanced, but a good close second. I bet this would be really good as a sweet tea or with a little cream!

Update: I just read that this has hibiscus in it! I’m super happy to say that I didn’t detect any at all!

So delicate and floral! I love this tea. The floral delicateness of this tea is grounded by the peach.
