This was a freebie tea bag with my last DF order, and the funny thing is that despite never having had it before, I already knew exactly how it was going to taste. And I was 100% right. I’m glad, too, because I thought it would be good (it is), and not too “fruit juice-y” or candylike or overdone, and it isn’t. The four fruits are cherry, strawberry, raspberry and red currant, and as others have noticed, no single one of the four seems to stand above the others in focus, so it truly is a “four fruits blend,” combining to make a very nice “red fruits” fusion flavor.

It’s a classic Dammann Frères harmonious fruit tea blend, but I don’t feel the need to get this right away because my Paul & Virginie blend has the same four fruits, but promotes the cherry a bit more, and adds vanilla and caramel to the party. I’m thinking, though, that this would make a particularly nice iced tea, so when summer rolls around, I might be rolling around to a chilly 4 Fruits Rouges glacé.

Another sachet I picked up from a breakfast buffet on my trip. I had this with unsweetened soy milk, so I didn’t pick up on all of the minor notes, however I did enjoy the creamy mouthfeel.

There is a light sweetness here, similar to dried fruit. I get notes of cherry, dried fig, cranberry, and raspberry.

A delicate, very fruity black tea, almost perfume-y, which was so flavorful I didn’t bother with milk.

I received a sample of this in a recent swap with greenteafairy and was excited to try it out with breakfast this morning! I think I over-steeped it by a minute or two in the bustle of getting ready for work, but thankfully the base didn’t go bitter or astringent. I didn’t pick up on any specific fruits, but there was a nice sweet fruity flavor going on that I quite enjoyed. Not a standout for me, but happy I got to sample it! One of these days I’m going to invest in some French tea and it’s nice to be able to find out ahead of time which ones I really love and which ones aren’t worth paying the crazy shipping fees for.

received a sample bag of this with an order. was a bit apprehensive, since flavoured blacks don’t usually do it for me…

i was so wrong! this one smells so so good, and the liquid actually followed through. delicious, and the base didn’t get rough-and-tumble over the ~4-5min steep i gave it. just lovely fruity flavours, just like the smell. maybe i’m wrong about flavoured teas, and i’ve just had a lot of bad ones. ;)

this is the red-fruit flavoured tea i’ve always wanted but been unable to find in reality.

btw shoutouts to @roswellstrange for pointing me at dammann freres! :)

This is a nice fruity blend, though I wish I could detect the individual flavors—I just get a generic, if pleasant, fruitiness. I also feel like the fruit flavorings could be a little more assertive, but then I always like my flavors super bold. As it is, the fruits and the smooth, slightly malty base are pretty evenly balanced. I love fruity teas of all stripes, but in general I find these sorts of flavorings work better for me with green (or even oolong) bases than with black, and nice as this blend is it’s no exception to that rule.

I don’t usually drink flavored black teas… I am a purist, unless it comes to chai and a few from Lupicia, and in those cases, I’m a bit of an easy woman. I got this sample from some generous soul out there prior to my unexpected surgery, and can’t remember for the life of me who it was…but whoever that is, thank you for sharing! I pulled this from my box of samples today because I’ve been jonesing for Lupicia’s Decaf Carol every evening (hot, delicious Cap’n Crunch with Crunchberries anyone?) so here it is in my cup on a Sunday morning.
My aversion to most flavored teas is that they make me burp the flavor long after the tea is gone….they also taste fake, and usually hide cheapo tea underneath. But THIS is FANCY tea! Obviously the fancy french have been flavoring teas for quite some time, because this is different…
The base of this tea is smooth and balanced for a flavored tea….a bit brisk for my liking, but I have a low tolerance level for astringency. The 4 fruits are not overpowering nor cloying. They are well balanced with the tea. They are also not too sweet, thanks to the red currant.
If this was served at a restaurant or bakery, I would happily have another cup. Will I search it out online to purchase a tin? Not yet. In my tea journey I am still enjoying the terrain and company of unflavored black teas. But a sojourn here and there for the unexpected is always welcome.

A sample from greenteafairy! I love trying French teas, so I tend to gravitate toward them when I’m poking around in people’s cupboards for swap ideas. My sample of this doesn’t have any red berries in it, and the leaves are smallish and a dark reddish brown. Dry scent is yummy sweet and tart strawberry mixed with cherry.

Steeped, it smells lovely. It’s both tart and sweet with a touch of candylike juiciness. The taste of this one actually kind of reminds me of Dammann’s 4, 5, 6, Cuellier des Cerises, which I suppose makes sense. It has that same deep, rich, somewhat tart fruit flavor, and there’s definitely a strong cherry presence. I do also get a touch of strawberry though, and it adds a little bit of brightness to the heavier cherry. There’s also a nice mellow malt flavor running through it from the base tea, and a bit of dark caramelized brown sugar richness. Overall, yums.

I loved it! It was my favorite tea when I lived in Paris. I bought some boxes before we moved and now I am finishing my last one. This is my favorite tea for the 10 o’clock thing:). The problem with some American brand teas is that we use too many artificial flavors, can hardly find a brand that does not taste like soap to me. In France, marriage Frere, Dammann Frere, Palais des the, etc, all tend to please at least your nose. I do not definitely like all the different flavors, but certainly have never felt like I was eating soap. It could be just my taste buds, but when my s from Europe came to visit me, I thought, well let’s have an american brand earl grey, say Teaforte…I wish I could have taken a picture of her first sip…
