I decided to blend an Assam and a Darjeeling, hoping that it would come a bit close to Harney & Sons HarSha. I used a Second Flush Darjeeling from Harney & Sons and an Assam from Upton. We shall see!

Today we went on a nature walk and picnic, and for days now I planned to cold brew this for the picnic drink. Well, I woke up today smacking my head – I FORGOT TO COLD BREW THE ICED TEA!!!! Siiiiiggggggghhhhhh!

I quickly made a double strength hot brew of it, cooled it down over ice, and took it on our adventure. It was really good, and very refreshing with our spicy peanut noodle picnic, but I definitely prefer the cold brew method. This was a little harsh and strong, where the cold brewed one is delicate and so much more fruity. I didn’t get any of the grapefruit/St. Germain notes today.

Moral of the story: Don’t forget to put your iced tea to cold brew before going to sleep the night before a picnic or you will be sad!!!

Oh, true, but I went ahead and clicked it (the “like” button) because the nature walk and the picnic does sound wonderful! Such a peaceful harmonious way to appreciate all this green-ness around us! Not to mention the birds and the squirrels and the rabbits …!

So easy, so delicious. Makes a ton! My husband and I both have spicy peanut noodle lunch today too :) The only thing I changed was to put a huge squirt of Sriracha in with the sauce ingredients. Sriracha makes everything better :)

Okay, I have everything to make the spicy peanut noodles in my house and they sound super yum. But the husband is allergic to peanuts! =(

Is he allergic to all/most nuts? That must be so difficult! I think cashews would be easy to leave out in this one. Is he ok w sesame? I think regular oil and a big squirt of sriracha would provide plenty of flavor if he is :)

I think he’s allergic to only peanuts. He’s not sure. We love Asian food so I’m sure he’s eating almonds and peanut oil without knowing it and been fine. If he knows it (the psychological effect) or can taste the nutty taste (which tastes like foulness to him), it bothers him. Some sesame is okay, too many sesame starts to remind him on nuts.

It does suck. I love peanut butter, almonds, almond butter, pecans, etc. But can’t eat them if he’s home. So I have to sneak it when he’s at work. I’m just glad that the sight of it in the house doesn’t bother him.
