Pretty in Pink

This is a mild, fruity green rooibos. Without looking, I couldn’t say what fruit it’s supposed to be, maybe citrus? There’s a slight tang in there that I don’t love that could possibly be smoothed out with some additional marshmallow root. I don’t enjoy this one quite as much as other CG blends – it could use a few tweaks.

2021 sipdown no. 43

This smells and tastes exactly like when I smash up fresh strawberries to make strawberry shortcake each summer. The scent is reminding me of home and my grandmother, who taught me how to make strawberry shortcake. What a winning cuppa! Also, the green rooibos is such a great choice — to all tea companies, please feel free to use it more! :)

Edit: Forgot to mention before that I picked the marshmallows out of here, just in case they weren’t vegan!

CuppaGeek Advent Calendar – Day 23

I think mini marshmallows are so cute but my sample had a lot and I think that might have hurt the blend a bit. This is just overly sweet with a tiny hint of berry flavor. Interestingly enough, the berry flavor isn’t actually overly sweet but instead hits the back of your throat with a tartness that is true to the fruit. I just wish there was more of that flavor and less sweet. Also less of the green rooibos base flavor which seems to make up most of the taste, along with the sweet, until that berry hits.

I’m getting around to having a cup of this myself. The last time I tasted this was when I had a few sips from Kiki’s advent grab bag cup. It was very subtle. This is clearly a fresh batch that I ordered.

The dry goods smell so fruity and sweet. It’s all clumpy and sticky fun. I used to laugh at Kiki’s descriptor of strawberry jello for these CuppaGeek teas but I totally get it in the aroma here. The body in this batch is noticeable, almost syrupy but the mineral-acidic quality of the green rooibos with hibiscus keeps the cloy at bay. It does taste like the smell of hot strawberry jello liquid. Appley. Yum.

CuppaGeek Advent Calendar, December 19

Hmm, others got fruits, but I didn’t. I got just somehow pure rooibos with few marshmallow in. In taste it was, as I assume, pure green rooibos (never got it plain, so no idea how it tastes like) and bit on sweet side because of marshmallows. Little tartness from hibiscus, but nothing from raspberries or strawberries. I haven’t seen them in the blend as well.

It wasn’t pink as well, rather cloudy yellow-green. I won’t rate as it wasn’t as it should be I assume.

Cuppageek Advent Day 17

A few days ago I told gmathis I hoped this was in my advent, and my wish came true! I did drink this on the right day but didn’t get it posted.

When I looked at the ingredients and saw hibiscus, I decided to sweeten and ice it because that is how I usually prefer my hibby. I was planning to let it chill in the fridge and let the flavors meld for best taste.

Much to my surprise the first steep was barely pink! The second and third were mostly yellow, bit I went forward with my plan and poured all three steeps into a large glass with a touch of sugar to await suppertime.

I really didn’t taste hibiscus. The flavor was….nicely confusing. If I had to pin it down without knowing the ingredients, I would have said it tasted like mild apple sans tartness and a smooth honey sweetness, probably from the green rooibos, with a subtle fruitiness in addition to apple.

I enjoyed it, and I think this would be a brilliant tea to keep on hand to serve to visiting children, when visits start happening again. It would be perfect for a little tea party! They would love to see the little marshmallows in the mix, too.

Also, since it lacks the hibby tartness I feared, I would try it hot as well. But I think it may have established itself in my mind as a “first of spring” iced picnic tea!

Day 16 advent

this was from yesterday and a nice herbal cup. Not my favourite, but certainly nothing to hate on. Just the right sweetness from the marshmallows and the fruit to make it a well balanced cup.

Good gravy, you all have been busy. It’ll take me from now until Twelfth Night to catch up with all your sip-ventures.

I took a time out to have one of my own this evening with this frilly, fruity, little herbal treat from the Cuppa Geek Advent calendar. The green rooibos (which I am loving—hadn’t tried it before sampling these CG blends) sets the table perfectly for this sweet little fruit punch buffet. No one fruit stands out more than the other here, they all have lovely table manners. I have no grands of my own (Dear Santa..), but I have a little gaggle of 10-year-old Sunday girls who are pretty good substitutes. This would be perfect to share with them.
