Oh, so nice! This leans sharply to the maple side of the name and is creamy and pancakey—more so than Celestial Seasonings’ version which compared to CuppaGeek, now comes off a little thin and artificial.

I’ve been craving maple, and this didn’t quite hit the spot, but it’s a decent cup of tea. It reminds me of the flavor used in Adagio’s maple creme oolong, which always hit me as more smoky/woody than maple. I get a bit of earthy ginger as well, which goes well with that woodiness. It tastes nice enough with some milk, but it’s far from a favorite.

Mmmmm! I love how dark, dense and brown tasting this blend is. Like an river of dark, thick maple syrup slowly running down a giant slab of mineral-rich wet stone. All of that tied off with a bow of lightly spicy and earthy fresh ginger. I wouldn’t dare to describe this as a bright cup but it is lively in its own way with a lot of different layer of flavour nestled on top of one another.

2021 sipdown no. 29

In juxtaposition to most notes I saw on this one, I am getting a fair amount of heat from the ginger and less maple. I was hoping for the opposite, but still a tasty cuppa. The ginger is not as intense as I’ve had in other teas, so I am grateful for that.

All in all, not a bad cup to enjoy this afternoon.

Cameron has really got me thinking on the teapots we have and perhaps soon I’ll have to make up a whole pot instead go just my normal mug. :)

Advent Day 23, From the Depths of the Grab Bag

“The dry smell was, uh, like chocolate or chicory. And, uh, wet smells like, uh, like a chicory tea, like it’s supposed to taste like chocolate or vanilla. Cinnamon. Star anise. heh heh heh All I can smell is that perfumey smell. It tastes alright. It’s okay. It’s not bad. I’d say it’s a, uh 6 to.. 6.5. Maybe it’s got some kinda black tea or some kinda tea that tastes dry on your tongue. Unless it’s got some chamomile or something in it. Let’s see, does it have any fruity in it? I can’t smell any fruity. It kinda tastes like that Celestial Seasoning one that’s supposed to taste like ‘Get up in the Morning Tea.’ Okay, so what is it?”

Maple Ginger.

“Oh yeah, ginger but it’s so overpowered by the maple.”

It’s got oolong tea which is probably giving you the—

“—black, tannin.”

Aaaand [the rest of the ingredients].

“Okay. Tell everybody out there if they have a good tea they want to send me, I’ll give a professional critique!”

Courtney

Love the offer of a professional critique!

Prepare to be inundated with Kiki review packages, ha ha!

gmathis

I needed that chuckle this morning!

derk

Honestly, she’d get the biggest kick if somebody addressed a tiny tea sample to her. “Am I famous yet??”

tea-sipper

Kiki was instantly famous. haha

Cuppageek Advent Day 15

This was my random pull today! I made it in my Kamjove and combined three steeps together. In this small Kamjove, the third steep doesn’t immediately run out because the water level is above the level in the steeper so you have to go ahead and pour and then press the button again so the rest of steep three runs out and doesn’t oversteep.

This is maple forward which suits me just fine! I don’t like hot ginger but I don’t mind a bit of warming or a sparkle from it. This one was not too hot for me.

It reminds me of Cinnamon Sugar Cookie but has a little more body and flavor than that one, so I think I like this one better!

I would say this has medium body. If you sweeten your tea – I do not usually – it would be cool to try this two ways, comparing a bit of sugar or a bit of maple syrup. If I had a whole bag of it, I would try it as a latte using maple syrup to sweeten!

As a plain tea with no additions, it was a very nice afternoon treat with my biscotti.

Nichole/CuppaGeek

Oohhhhh! I need to try that!

CuppaGeek Advent Calendar – Day 13

When I bought the advent, I decided to pick up some samples as well. I avoided the holiday-themed teas because I assumed they would be in the advent. This was one I wasn’t expecting in the advent so I purchased a sample and have gotten around to it yet. So here’s hoping I like it… It smells very deliciously maple…

I definitely get maple as the focus. Ginger and oolong are also prominent flavors, just below the maple. I think the cardamom in this is throwing me though since it is also a prominent flavor and it is sort of fighting for attention.

CuppaGeek Advent Calendar, December 10
14 days remaining. It flies!

2 steeps today, 5 and approximately 10 minutes long.

First steep was full of maple syrup for me, but ginger was lacking, it is rather bit on creamy cinnamony note. It reminded me a lot a Mornin’ Waffles, maybe with bit less sweetness.. The cinnamon was strong. In second steep I notice some tingling ginger, but weak. Unfortunately, I expected something else than maple syrup & cinnamon tea. The ginger is indeed missing here. It’s tasty nevertheless.

Day 8 Advent

Yesterday’s cup. Nice to have an oolong as a surprise but this was an entirely maple tea for me. I didn’t get any ginger so it was just a lovely cup of maple, cinnamon oolong. I like it, but not exactly what it was supposed to be

Courtney

I’ve been looking for a maple tea and avoided this one due to the ginger…maybe time to reconsider. :P

Sil

haha oooor just add maple syrup to a black tea? :)

Courtney

Always an option haha!

ashmanra

Sounds right up my alley. I would prefer crouching maple hidden ginger.

Martin Bednář

Aaand it’s my day 10 :D I am curious about this tea.

Martin Bednář

Seems pretty much same as yours. A maple and cinnamon tea, missing the ginger which I get in second steep, but weakly.

Sil

@ashmanra – should be a good one for you then heh i on the other hand LOVE my ginger :)
