Sweet, juicy and just a down right delectable green tea, who knew pear paired so well with top quality Sencha.

This is kind of an experiment for me, to see how my taste buds are doing. I wanted a more delicate tasting tea than the tea I’ve been drinking (mostly black teas with a lot of ginger and cinnamon and other spices) to see if I could detect some of the lighter flavors. And they seem to be in check! Woot!
The pear flavor is quite lovely, as is the flavor of the green tea. Fresh, slightly vegetative, and the fruit flavor is light yet sweet and delicious.

Hiya! I totally see what you mean about the Jolly Rancher. At the time of logging this I was looking for a HIGHLY flavored pear so I was jazzed! LOL
Prepared this by steeping for 2 minutes with 180°F water, then putting in the refrigerator overnight. I also had a small cup hot before chilling.
This is very flavorful and aromatic. It’s delicious. I’m not sure I would think pear if I didn’t know that’s what was intended, but I am getting a sort of dried pear flavor when I think about it. It’s very good, fruity, sweet, and has a nice clean aftertaste. No bitterness or astringency. The green tea base is really good too, which really makes the aftertaste pleasant.

So there is a nice sencha background to this tea. But I’m not getting the pear. It’s going to sound really weird but when I opened the bag all I could smell were those circus peanuts – you know, the orange marshmallowy candy shaped like peanuts? It was strange. And it also, unfortunately, didn’t go away – I feel like I’m drinking circus peanut flavored sencha. Not quite what I wanted.
I’m glad I only got a sample size of this – I’ll stick with the peach black or strawberry sencha instead. Now to talk myself into finishing that half gallon…
If you would enjoy a pear flavored Jolly Rancher melted into your Sencha tea, then you would enjoy this tea. However, though I love Sencha, this was not a tea I would ever drink again.
