Tangerine Orange Zinger

Hibiscus… I was a bit nervous to try it, but I’m glad I did. The tangerine/orange mix is beautiful and somewhat calming. This is a yummy tea that I would recommend to anyone.

I finally caved and purchased a box of this tea. For months I’ve been searching for it in stores (I live in Canada), even contacting celestial seasonings with no luck. Normally you can buy Celestial Seasonings Tea in stores for like $4/box. With shipping I spent like $13 for a box of 20 tea bags, and it hurt to do so. But, the day I bought it I got a new job so I knew I could afford it, lol.

I’ve tried brewing this hot and then chilling it, but this tea is best cold brewed (5 tea bags per 2L pitchers, approx 12h). The tea does have the taste of orange but I’d say the tart hibiscus is more prominent. My husband drank 3/4 of the pitcher already and says he loves this tea. I like it too, but I want to try cold brewing Twinnings’ Mandarin orange rooibos blend (which does not have hibiscus) before I decide if this one is worth purchasing 6 boxes at a time to cut costs (found a seller on amazon.ca: selling 6 boxes for $14).

I cold brewed this overnight last night and it was really really good – I’m impressed! Normally this one is just okay but cold brewing really downplayed the orange notes and amped up the hibiscus which was fine by me! I used 4 bags/32oz of water. I’m cold brewing again tonight with 3 bags/32oz to see how that plays out.

I’m kind of surprised I’ve haven’t tried this one yet, but I guess I tried the Mandarin Orange Spice first and liked it, and though this would be relatively similar so I didn’t bother trying this one. I’m glad I tried it this time. The tangerine and hibiscus made this quite different from the mandarin orange. I really, really like it. I can’t wait to try it iced!

I normally hate hibiscus-y teas, but I enjoyed this one. It’s exactly what it claims to be, orangey and tart. Not my ideal tea, but good enough. And hibiscus tea is another way to get some vitamin c so that’s a plus too.

I really enjoyed this. It had a very light flavor, but could definitely would have again.

Iced, with honey. Not great nor terrible.

I wasn’t sure what to expect from this, but I really enjoy the tangerine flavor. That’s the only flavor I can detect from it though, except a bit of berry. I like it! It doesn’t try too hard to be spectacular, just something nice and warm for a rainy day or iced for a hot summer day.

Tastes exactly as expected: tangy and citrus-y. Had mine with 3 teaspoons of honey to help soothe my sore throat; maybe that’s why I liked it just fine.
