Lover's Leap

This is one of those nice nondescript black teas that are just flat good to drink; no one aspect asserts itself, but you look at your cup five minutes later and it’s gone. Just slips right past you comfortably.

Not a huge wake-up kick, but (for once) I didn’t need one … jet lag and intense schedule caught up with me and I slept from 9 pm to 7:15 this morning. Can’t tell you the last time I did that.

This a straightforward black with a hint of floral and orange notes. I purposely underleafed this, only because I’ve found floral orange pekoes to be outside my tastes, usually. 1 tsp in 12 oz.

This is just a good cup of black tea. There’s no frills or assertiveness, it’s just something that is comfortable and tasty. No astringency either, which is a pleasant Ceylon surprise.

I steeped this in my mug at school today; my classmates were telling me “IZZY THAT LOOKS SO SKETCHY OMG WHAT ARE YOU DOING.” Calm down you lunatics, it’s just tea. Thanks to Kelci for this tea from the 12 Days Swap. I actually just finished the sample, as I’d had a cup closer to when I got it.

Anywho, this was pretty good. It was slightly astringent for me, but that may have been my awkward in-school steeping method. Otherwise, I liked it. It was very light in color, and rather light in taste as well, but not in a bad way; it was fairly bright, and full. I let my friend Aliza have a sip, and she said that it was very naturally sweet, which I think is true. While I don’t know whether I would buy this for myself or not, I did enjoy the cup!

This was a very light straight black tea. I might have steeped this incorrectly. My cup ended up being very bitter. I will have to give it another go.

Fun fact: I just typed out “Lordes”, like the Royals singer, instead of “Lords” and now I’m giggling a little bit.

Other Fun Fact: It took me an embarrassingly long time to get to this tea from the 12 Days of Christmas swap (this day was provided by Kelci), and I’m sorry about that!

Straight blacks are morning teas for me, and often I’m not really up in the “morning”. And I guess this sample just got pushed to the very back of the sample drawer in my kitchen. I recently reorganized it though, which is when I found this and moved it to the top.

I think I may have added in too much milk though because that’s practically all I could taste in the blend, other than some faint generic (but nice generic) black tea with maybe a tiny bit of floral notes? I have one more cup though, so when I make it tomorrow for work (to get the sipdown in) I’ll use less milk and see what other flavours I notice.

It was good, though!
