Our Grasshopper Cheesecake is minty, creamy, and earthy. The flavors mesh well together and are quite unique. Sugar turns this tea into a rich creamy mint cheesecake. We highly recommend drinking this tea at a cooler temperature to better experience all of the flavors. Please rinse this puerh prior to steeping.

Ingredients: 1989 Suncha Blend (Chinese Puerh Tea), Organic Peppermint, Organic Natural Flavors (vegan)

Recommended Brew Time: 3 minutes
Recommended Amount: 2 level teaspoons of tea for 8oz of water
Recommended Temperature: 212 F (boiling)

Could have sworn I’ve reviewed this before?! Odd.
Anyhow, I enjoy this tea… some cups were a lot better than others. This last cuppa was best out of them all. The taste is ok, but the mouthfeel is most pleasing. All sunshiney and happy. I think it was the mint. The first and second steeps were great, but the third started to fall flat on me.
Oh! And it reminds me a lot of AQ2T’s On Wisconsin Jade Oolong in the added flavouring (which I may pass on to another tea drinker, as I have another creamy oolong or two that I enjoy more)
I’m not exactly sad to see this one go, in the end. There are other Butiki teas I’ve mourned the ending of a lot more :P

I like this. It’s not one of my all-time favourites but when I’m in the mood for creamy mint it’s nice. The first steep (Western, because I’m doing everything like that for my drink-a-thon) was great – deep rich puerh, creamy vanilla, sweet mint and an actual discernible cheesecake flavour. The cheesecake is very rich and mixes with the vanilla well, but I do think that the mint is a little bit too fresh and strong for the rest of the flavours, and it’s even stronger than the puerh, which doesn’t surprise me based on how much mint leaf was in my bag. Nice all the same, but I’m wishing that the mint was just a little bit weaker and more candy-like. I’m currently on my second steep and the puerh is surprisingly not holding up as well as the flavours. Granted it’s more vanilla mint now without the creamy cheesecake, but the puerh is definitely ‘watery’ this time round. I might stick to one steep next time for this, or more likely brew it gongfu. The first steep was definitely the best.

Huh. This is a puerh? I totally forgot about that.

This is really nice. My sample from MissB (Thank you!!) had a LOT of mint leaves in it, and I’m not the hugest fan of mint… but it works really well in this tea. It’s smooth and creamy and quite dark. I added some milk to it, and it’s really nice.

I wouldn’t ever want more than a sample, because of the mint, but I’m super glad I felt minty today and decided to try it!

In other news, I’m cooking for the week with what’s in my house… so far I have Tikil Gomen and rice. Soon I will have bread-like substance (if it turns out, gluten free bread is fickle) flavoured with cardamom and garlic. :)

Rinsed this pu’erh as recommended prior to steeping it the other day, and ended up with quite a tasty cup. A bit of creamy cheesecake, some mint, and the base worked well (no fishiness! Happy!) I will admit that I drank the rinse… and was sad because it seemed that it had much of the creaminess that I would prefer to have in the tea. Therefore, I may think twice about rinsing it next time. It shouldn’t be too bad for me… right?

I am pretty sure I like this, but I accidentally messed up my cup because I decided to add some sugar to it and I had a stevia packet at my desk that I stole brought back from Disney World…anyway I’ve never really had Stevia but I thought it would be less artificial tasting. Dude, that is NOT sugar.

So future me will add sugar to my next cup of this.

First impressions though, I thought it was a great blend of flavours. The earthy base somehow brought to mind like a graham crust, weird. Went really well with the chocolate, mint and cheesecake.

Will enjoy the last few cups in my bag for sure!

LOL. Some people (me too!) really can’t stand the taste of stevia. And sadly it’s in SO MUCH STUFF now. There’s a small batch soda company that just started distributing and I was SO EXCITED until I read it’s sweetened with stevia. :/

stevia is like cilantro… for some people they are genetically not able to taste it the way it tastes… ie for some people cilantro = dish soap.

i can taste stevia in anything…no matter how small the amount. it ruins everything.

and this tea..is THE YUMS! so tasty…

The thing with stevia, is that the plant actually tastes OK as a sweet plant (we grew it when I was a kid) but the extract they use to make the sweetener packets is just… blech. Each company uses its own method and has its own purity measures and its own additives.

I will happily take this off anyone who doesn’t love theirs. For me, this is the right blend of a strong base, mixed with just the right amount of mint and cheesecake flavouring. This is NOT a travel mug tea. This is a sit at home and enjoy the aroma and the deliciousness of this tea while the outside world goes by. A little bit of sugar added to this, just makes everything pop while still allowing me to enjoy the deliciousness of the suncha base.
