From Butiki Teas

Our Boomstick combines tangerine, grapefruit, and bergamot flavors with our Kenyan Obsidian tea and orange peel pieces for a citrus lovers dream. Each citrus flavor can be detected on its own but is also cohesive. This tea is a bit of an adventure as each sip has a different dominant flavor. The citrus flavor is not overly aggressive, with just a mild tartness. We highly recommend Boomstick as a breakfast tea.

I’m enjoying this bold and citrusy tea very much. I figured out it is one of the few teas I can appreciate with my cold! I’ll probably finish my packet in the next day or so… boo.

I didn’t think something so citrusy would go well with milk, but for some reason I got it into my head to add vanilla creamer this morning. And it turned out fantastic! The perfect orange cream flavor and silky consistency.

Sounds tasty… I’ll have to try it with milk sometime this week :)

This tea is tasty. It has a lot of tangerine flavor or flavor from the orange peel. I think it has orange peel in it anyway. The bergamot is on the back burner. That is good because I am not a fan of strong bergamot flavor. Can’t really taste the grapefruit.

I brewed this tea once in an 18oz teapot with 3 tsp leaf and boiling water for 2.5 min.

Flavors: Bergamot, Citrus

Boiling 2 min, 30 sec 3 tsp 18 OZ / 532 ML

I really like this tea and I’m not even a big lover of citrus-flavored things. It has a very natural citrus flavor, like a real tangerine or grapefruit slice was dropped into my cup, not that fake orange flavor. It’s very perky and refreshing…it would probably be great iced, but that uses too much leaf, so I’ll probably just drink the rest of my little bag hot. :)

yay, my Butiki order arrived today – I had to order this one, right? Since I suggested the combination of tangerine, grapefruit and bergamot.

So this is really nice. Not your average Earl Grey. It’s much more a citrus tea than a Earl Grey, but I do like the way the bergamot comes through. And it seems like in every sip, I get a different citrus fruit flavor. The grapefruit was coming through strongly at first, but now I’m tasting more tangerine. Every once in a while, the distinct bergamot note appears.

And the black base is really pleasant. I’m not tasting as much of it as I did in the chocolate chili truffle, or maybe it’s just that the different flavors accentuate different aspects of the tea. I do get that nice honey tone that is really nice with the citrus notes.

So glad that you are happy with how your suggestion turned out! :) This one is a different base then the chocolate chili one. This is our Kenya Obsidian which is grapefruity, malty, and woody. The Sansia was used in our chocolate chili and that is pretty much like liquid honey chocolate.

Then that’s why it tastes different! I do get some honey notes from somewhere though. But yeah, I wasn’t getting as strong honey notes as the one in the chocolate chili so that explains why I taste different stuff. And the grapefruity note in the black tea would explain why the grapefruit note is so forward in this blend too.

Interesting, I will have to taste that tea again to see if I can find any honey notes, though I do remember it having a lovely sweetness to it. I bet that is the combination of one of the flavorings and the natural notes of the tea. Initially, I put the bergamot flavor first but ultimately decided it was better as a supporting flavor.
