From Butiki Teas

Foxy Roxy’s Banana Walnut Treat utilizes our Congou Keemun as the base which provides an interesting contrast with the sweet banana flavor. We also added a touch of walnut which melds nicely with base without overpowering the banana flavor. One of our customers, Foxy Roxy, contacted us to suggest a banana Keemun blend. Since we were already working on a banana tea, we decided to test it out and we were quite surprised by the deliciousness of this combination.

Ingredients: Congou Keemun (Black Tea), Organic Walnuts, Freeze-Dried Banana Slices, Organic Lotus Stamens, Organic Natural Flavoring (vegan)

Recommended Brew Time: 3 minutes
Recommended Amount: 2 teaspoons of tea for 8oz of water
Recommended Temperature: 212 F (boiling)

Thank you VariaTea! It has only taken so long for me to finish this because I was trying to save it for a rainy day and that day was yesterday. I love the base of this tea, something I don’t always notice or appreciate. It makes me rethink what kind of tea I should be drinking. I’m sure to buy this once it is closer to real fall.

Omg people I have so many backlogs, it’s crazy! My hectic routine is catching up to me and I pass out go to bed at like 7pm. Pretty pathetic.

This rocked my world today. I love that the banana flavour does not taste like chemicals or candy. It is just nice. The nuttiness is wonderful. I could’ve had this all day. Yum.

I’m having a rough go of it this morning. Getting out of bed was not easy for a reason I am not entirely sure of. There really isn’t any reason I should be as tired as I feel this morning.

My first attempt at tea this morning was a big fat fail. I tried to make the Harney’s Moroccan Mint, which as previously stated is very finicky. Not sure why I tried that tea when my brain is so clearly not with it today, but I did and it fail.

So I grabbed this one and tried a second go at tea this morning. Much better. comforting, sweet and caffeinated. I’m giving this a thumbs up because that’s all I’m capable of at this point this morning. ugh.

My Butiki order arrived yesterday, so I took that as permission to bring out a couple of untrieds from a previous order. I hoard Butiki teas. They’re just so good.

Anyway, the smell of this one dry is just amazing, like a banana nut muffin, or banana bread. The smell of the walnut reminds me of my favourite restuarant’s maple walnut ice cream sundae! I followed the recommended parameters for my first cup — 2 tsp in boiling water for three minutes. Brewed, the scent is much the same as dry, although with a little more of the base coming through.

To taste, this isn’t quite what I was expecting. I can taste a lot of slightly smoky keemun, and a walnut flavour (like walnut skin) which blends with the base tea to the point that they’re hard to distinguish. The banana is very, very subtle. It comes out mostly in the aftertaste at first, and a little more as the cup cools. It’s a very natural banana flavour, though — like banana chips rather than candy.

I would like to be able to taste a bit more banana, and so I think I’ll try a bit of sugar in my next cup. For a first impression, though; not bad! It’s not my favourite of the Butiki’s I’ve tried so far, but it’s certainly a tasty cup.

I also got my order yesterday, & gifted myself with some more of this yummy tea!

Nice nutty tea with good banana aroma; does almost taste like banana walnut bread. Big chunks of freeze dried bananas. I brewed mine a bit longer than the recommended three minutes, and added milk and sugar.

Mmmm. Banana bread tea! Somehow when I ordered this, I didn’t make the connection that banana + walnut = banana bread, but the moment I opened the package I was like “This smells like banana bread!!!” Well, duh…

This tea is pretty good. The only things that could improve it for me would be some “butter” and maybe a bit of vanilla flavor, because then it would be even more like banana bread. Also, the banana tastes and smells very much like those banana chips which I don’t care for. I hate it when a negative flavor association detracts from a perfectly delicious tea.
