From Butiki Teas

The Kamba Berry blend comes from Royal Tea of Kenya and was named after the Kamba Tribe, which is one of the largest tribal groups in Kenya. The Akamba people live primarily in the arid eastern part of the country and are skilled in basketry and wood carving. Kamba Berry pairs purple tea from the southern slopes of Mount Kenya with antioxidant rich berries, hibiscus, ginger, and basil. This tea has a wonderful herbal, berry taste with a gentle pucker and an underlying sweetness and produces a gorgeous pink liquor. While delicious with a little bit of sugar, this tea is equally enjoyable plain. More extensive information on our Kenyan teas can be found HERE.

Ingedients: Kenyan Purple Tea, Egyptian Karkady (Hibiscus sabadariffa), Freeze-Dried Blueberries, Freeze-Dried Strawberries, Bessobela (Ethiopian sweet basil), Powdered Ethiopian Ginger

Bought a one ounce sample of this with my order. It is fairly sweet and fairly zesty and just a little sour but not in a bad sort of way. Overall it is reasonably good.

I brewed this once in an 18 oz teapot with 2 tsp leaf and boiling water for 3 min.

Sipdown (138)!

Thank you VariaTEA for the sample! This is not one I would have thought to try without you sending it to me; but I’m glad it made me venture out of my comfort zone a little. These are the notes I jotted down when I drank it:

- Prepared in my timolino
- Mild “Puckering” Sourness/hibby
- Notes of Pine/Other vaguely “tree like” flavours
- Mellow berry notes and mild ginger
- Pretty good “one shot” cup
- Last few sips left my mouth VERY dry

So to conclude, I’d definitely be open to drinking it again but I highly doubt I’d order it. Not when there are so many other fantastic Butiki blends to choose from, anyway.

Cameron B.

I’ve been wondering about this one.

Sil

cameron – it’s interesting and tasty…but the sludge factor in the basket makes me not a fan.

VariaTEA

Haha I still have yet to try this. I should do that soon. Glad you enjoyed it though.
