From Butiki Teas

Our Organic Dragon Tip is processed by withering, firing, carding, and then baking the tea leaves. This gorgeous emerald green tea originates from an all organic estate located in Dexing City which is found in the northeast area of the Jiangxi Province in Southern China. Organic Dragon Tip has vegetal notes with a roasted flavor and has some light yeasty notes. This silky tea is sweet with light astringency. Please note that we have a very limited supply of this tea.

Backlogging from last week.

A sample I received from Stacy, thank you.

The leaves look like emerald spears and smell like homemade dough for pizza or for bread. Wet, the leaves smell like bread with greens mixed in, like zucchini bread, it smelled good, made me hungry.

Taste was like spinach bread, I’ve never had spinach bread but it tastes like the zucchini bread but replace the zucchini with spinach. There is a silky texture and it’s a bit astringent. There is also a juicy quality at the end of the sip.

I like this tea because it’s so different, I can’t say I’ve tasted bread notes like that in tea before, and I like it! Unfortunately I don’t like astringency at all. I feel like I’m about as sensitive to astringency as I am to smoke…which is pretty sensitive. If you can handle a little astringency then there should be no problem.

I’m going to recommend that you stay away from the Korakundah in the sample pack then since that is slightly astringent and smokey. We probably should have balanced that green pack out with some of our sweeter greens.

Invader Zim

Aside from the astringency this tea was still very fascinating to me! And I’m still going to try the rest simply because my curiosity won’t let me not try it! I hadn’t realized that most of the teas in the sample pack say slightly astringent in their descriptions.

Butiki Teas

I really like how unique this one is. I tend to use a little less leaf, so the astringency isn’t as noticeable to me. Well, the South Korean isn’t too astringent. That one might be ok but I think that Korakundah is going to be a little rough for you.

Thank you Stacy for this sample of a new tea soon to be available!

It seems that Stacy is busy gathering a large number of new tea’s to release very soon on the Butiki website. In her excitment to share with us Steepsters, some of the new tea’s have been leaking out early as samples. These are the kinds of leaks I like!

This morning I noticed the Dragon Tip among my recent sample stash and decided to skip my normal dark blends and jump to Green Tea.

The leaves were half inch spears ready for a 2 minute steep. Wet the leaves are grass green and surprisingly whole, smelling gently vegital.
The liquor was lightest green and faintly fragrant.

When I poured my first cup and took a drink (I did not sip, I drank) my mouth was filled with more creaminess than usual followed by a remarkably soft pea/bean puree taste. The flavor was smooth. Delicate. There was an astringency for a second in my cheeks…way in the lower back then a burst of juice right at the finish. What a fantastic gulp!
The creaminess is what impressed me the most. Such silkiness right from the beginning.
This was the reverse of many other tea tastings. Cream-flavor-astringency-juice!

I can understand why Stacy is adding this Dragon Tip to her offerings. It does stand on it’s own as a very tasty tea.

I’ve been on a Butiki Tea marathon ever since my package arrived. I can’t get enough! I randomly picked out the next tea to try and this is it!

The leaves are very cool and look like flattened leaf tips. I used about 2.5 teaspoons in 8 ounces of water. The aroma of the brewed tea is very vegetal. And the taste? Like steamed artichokes. Yummy! It’s also very clean tasting. I know that sounds weird, but that’s the only way I can think to describe it. Vegetal, steamed artichokes, and clean.

I’m loving this! It’s definitely a very high quality tea. I’m not getting any astringency or bitterness at all. I did a second infusion for 2.5 minutes and a third for 3 minutes. The first steep was my favorite and the most flavorful. The others were still good, just not quite as good. ;)

Overall, this tea is outstanding! And this is one of my least favorite types of tea too!! But this is too good to rate anything other than what it deserves. De-lish! I highly recommend it (and strongly suggest that you pick it up in your next order). You’ll love it too. :)

Alright! I really need to drink all these green tea samples that are hopefully still good! And if I got time, putting a dent in my other unflavored greens!

Mmm, this one is very juicy, veggie with a hint of dryness at the end.
I also got some other weird flavors, like a fruity – which was probably from contamination NOOOO! Quickly, drink the other samples!
