From Bird & Blend Tea Co.

Aptly named, this smoked lapsang blend, part of our Fireside Collection, packs quite a punch! Perfect for those who love to enjoy strong, but complex blends & who can take the chilli heat! Try with a splash of milk to turn this firework into a soothing autumn tea latte!

Ingredients: Sri Lankan Black Tea, Chinese Lapsang Souchong Black Tea, Chilli, Natural Flavouring

Geek Steep Mini Episode: Top Teas

Is it too early to call something a yearly tradition if you’ve only done it twice in a row!? I hope not, because this feels like the start of a pretty good Geek Steep tradition where we take a pause from our usual format to spend a week sharing out top three teas with each other and then another week sharing our top fandoms. No top tea spoilers from me today – you’ll have to listen to the episode!

This is just the tea I drank while recording. It was kind of me taking advantage of a loophole. I made a commitment to not drinking an Lapsang Souchong/smoked teas for out of our geeks but this isn’t a geek/normal episode so I felt like it didn’t count! I don’t remember much about what it tasted like other than it just feeling right to be drinking a Lapsang again on Geek Steep. I’m going to hold true to my commitment for this season because I do think smoked teas were becoming a sort of pairing crutch but all bets are off again come season three…

I purchased this tea a couple weeks ago, but don’t see any info for it on their site now. :/ It’s supposed to be a lapsang/chili mix. I love the name. It’s definitely lapsang, but I’m left waiting in vain for any bang. It’s just a nice lapsang with no chili in sight. I feel chili cheated!
