From Adagio Teas

Tart, sweet and oh, so good! As the name suggests, our Elderberry Wine is a full-bodied, complex tisane. With notes of grape and cranberry, it is the perfect tea to sip on to satisfy the need for bold flavor.

Herbal Tea | No caffeine | Steep at 212° for 5 minutes.

Blended With Hibiscus, Rose Hips, Elderberry, Echinacea, Apple Pieces, Lemon Grass, Raspberries & Blue Cornflowers

In some myths, the elder tree is thought to ward off evil and give protection from witches, while other beliefs say that witches often congregate under the plant, especially when it is full of fruit. If an elder tree was cut down, a spirit known as the Elder Mother would be released and take her revenge. The tree could only safely be cut while chanting a rhyme to the Elder Mother.

Made from the branch of an elder tree, the Elder Wand plays a pivotal role in the final book of the Harry Potter series, which was nearly named Harry Potter and the Elder Wand before author J. K. Rowling decided on Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

I don’t really know how I feel about this one. It’s earthy and tart from the hibiscus and super herby too. Idk, for “wine” teas I prefer Merlot Dommaine Chantel by The English tea store. It actually tastes like wine cold brewed.

Gonna sip this down probably

Adagio Advent Calendar – Day 2

Hmm, so can’t say I’m excited for this one. It’s a fruit tisane with hibiscus as the first ingredient… (hissss)

Yep, this is hibiscus land. It’s not face-puckeringly sour, but it’s definitely tart. I think I can taste apple, orange, and some vague red fruitiness. I do pick up on the lemongrass as well, which is nice. There’s a sweetness that comes in at the end of the sip, not sure if that’s from the apple pieces? I definitely don’t taste elderberry.

Anyway, as expected this is not for me. But it’s not awful either!

This one smells a bit like wine, so that’s accurate, I suppose. I could totally buy that the flavor is elderberry rather than some vague berry mix, like most berry teas. There’s also something a little herbaceous in there. It’s pretty sour, but better with sugar. Overall, I think this makes a decent cup of tea. The elderberry flavor is fun, but I’d probably prefer if it were only going for elderberry and not wine as well.
