Adagio Advent Calendar – Day 14

Wow, this smells amazeballs! It smells just like banana bread to me, and I love banana teas so it’s totally making my mouth water…

The taste isn’t quite as good as the smell, but still really good. It has a lovely mix of banana and spice cakey flavors with creamy nuts as well. The banana veers a little Runt-y at times, but overall this tastes buttery and cakey and banana-y with roasted nuts and light, warm spicing. As Rachael would say, Yum-o!

Definitely going on the order list, and the first winner for me from Adagio!

Smells like a creamy cough syrup I used to have as a child. Yum, unironically.

Adventaggedon Day Eight – 3/5

Ah, Honeybush Banana Nut. I feel like I’ve really gone through a rollercoaster of emotions when it comes to past impressions of this blend. Sometimes I like it a lot, and other times I’ve been painfully unimpressed. Today, however, I was so on board! There was another tea in the advent mix that I like more overall that I’m also familiar with, but this was definitely the tea that I needed more today.

Super rich and flavourful sweet banana notes with a more baked/pastry undertone to them. Not quite “banana runts” sweetness, but certainly beginning to turn down that route. It was met with a light walnut/almond nuttiness and a solid base of honeybush. I found the cup robust, cozy, comforting, sweet… Just really hit the spot!

We decorated cookies at the office today in the afternoon and I sipped this while doing that, and it was just one of the most “festive feeling” moments I’ve had so far this December even though the flavour of this tea isn’t necessarily a overtly holiday one. It was a good time!

I really and truly enjoyed this cup, do I have a thing for honey bush and nut flavouring? This is what I am learning about myself with this cup as it has brought back previous times where I was surprised how much I liked a honey bush…it had nut flavouring.

So the first time I tried this tea, it tasted absolutely amazing. Exactly like its namesake. Every cup after that, however, ended up with a strange underlying…peppery? flavor. So delicious on top, strangeness lurking below. I’ll probably order more sometime next year and play around with it to try to coax it to its original perfection. That first cup was seriously in my top ten ever cups of tea.
