I previously enjoyed this and would have rated it high, but this latest batch tastes off. I don’t know if the formula changed or what, but the chocolate taste is very off-putting, and artificial. I don’t want to rate this one, I’m sure the fault lies with Adagio. Lately their dessert varieties leave me wanting more – and want me to rinse my mouth out! (To quote comedian Jim Gaffigan, “Gotta eat something else, get rid of that flavor.”) It’s a shame because this was always one of my faves – I even have the old tin Adagio used to use before the bags.

I contacted Adagio about this – I really think there is something off with this particular bag.

The smell of this tea is heavenly. Not too strong it smells like a peppermint patty. When brewed it tasted as good as it smells. I love that the mint is not overpowering and it leaves a nice minty taste in your mouth when you are finished. The sweeter chocolate and vanilla come through even more witha bit of sweetener added to the tea. I drink 2-3 glasses of this per day.

The art for this seems to suggest that Accidental Awesome is kind of like…walking off a cliff? Fortunately, the actual tea doesn’t offer that kind of experience. The blend consists of black tea and lots of mint leaf. Lots and lots of mint leaf. It has a pleasant, chocolate-and-mint aroma. Brewed up, it initially tastes like peppermint candies or maybe candy canes—this would be great right around Christmas time. The chocolate flavor comes out to play a bit later, and is mild and sweet. The tea base is smooth and light, with a little raisiny sweetness of its own. It makes for a nice dessert tea overall, and all the flavors are present in just the right amounts.

With all the mint teas I’ve tried over the past few months, I feel like I’ve gotten a quick education in mint and finally learned to appreciate it. Thanks beelicious for the sample!

Very tasty, much like drinking an Andes mint. I liked tasting more spearmint in the tea than the peppermint you get in most mint teas.
