From Adagio Teas

A wake-up call to the senses! Our Grapefruit Oolong is invigorating both in scent as well as taste. This blend of premium Taiwan oolong tea and grapefruit is a fantastic choice for an afternoon respite, or anytime you need a citrus-infused pick-me-up. Zesty and warming, full-bodied and slightly dry finish. Refreshingly aromatic.

Premium Taiwan oolong is the foundation for this distinctively uplifting tea, perfect iced or hot. The grapefruit that flavors and scents it was named for how it grows, in grape-like clusters- who knew?! Farmed in both China and the U.S. plus such diverse countries as Haiti, Jamaica and Costa Rica, grapefruit can be eaten plain, halved and broiled, segmented into salads, stuffed into poultry or juiced. Enjoy Grapefruit Oolong alone or enjoy its aromatic citrusy essence with a dish made with fresh grapefruit. Satisfaction is guaranteed with its full body and slightly dry finish.

Oolong Tea | Moderate caffeine | Steep at 212° for 3-5 minutes.

This was good, but I don’t care for grapefruit. Although, it had more of just a general citrus flavor. (Which I don’t prefer either.) Don’t get me wrong though – it was still pretty good.

I’m pretty sure I am an oolong fan now. I seem to be okay with each one I try!

Free sample from Adagio. I was hoping for the grapefruit to be more vibrant and zingy, especially with how good this one smells. Really, this isn’t bad. It’s fresh and fruity, but not distinct in any way. I don’t really taste the tea base.

I think I actually like this one cold-brewed better than I do hot. I don’t love the base tea though but the grapefruit flavor isn’t bad. Just trying to finish off the rest of the sample pouch.

This is definitely better cold brewed than hot. I had the same issue with the base, but I’d add a touch of honey to elevate that grapefruit note.

I’ll have to try sweetening it. Thanks, I think one of the big things across Adagio teas you hear people have issues with is usually the base tea.

A very generous sample from Kawaii433 that took me a while to work through. Thanks :)

Same base oolong as the Adagio Peach Oolong she sent. Same base flavors — roasted barley, autumn leaf, wood, mineral — but the grapefruit elevated that kind of heaviness into something brighter, though like the peach oolong, more aromatic than full of taste. Odd medicinal-artificial whiffs in the aroma. Decent citrus zest tingling and very, very light bitterness from some grapefruit rind. Pretty smooth tea. I steeped many cups of this western (2 brews with 2tsp) before deciding to finish off the bag doing a gongfu session in a 100mL teapot. No difference whatsoever between the two methods. A good thing about this tea is not having to be mindful of brewing temp; boiling works just fine.

Too bad. The name holds such promise.

The smell of grapefruit alone is worth trying this tea. That is… If you love grapefruit as I do. When you open the bag, it’s heavenly to me. After steeping, the top of my teapot smells sooo good, mixture of grapefruit, orange, citrusy. Grapefruit is probably my favorite aroma. It’s medium to high roasted, taste something spicy, chai-like. It’s woodsy, full-bodied, rich. Not tart although you taste the grapefruit.

This is probably not something I’d have bought for myself but I was given a box of “Orchard Oolong” samplers from Adagio for my birthday.

Upon opening the foil pack the smell of grapefruit is quite intense. So much so that I was worried about the final result being too fruity. However, I needn’t have worried. The resulting infusion did taste of grapefruit but only mildly so. The resulting beverage was inoffensive but it also wasn’t spectacular. However, t was something I could easily drink.

Overall, I enjoyed it more than expected.

Cold Brew – This is so lovely! I tried this hot as well but I think the grapefruit really lends itself perfectly to an iced tea. Bright, clean, subtle citrus and incredibly refreshing. I am new to cold brew this spring/summer and can’t wait to branch out with this area of teadom.

Trying this tea out for the second time. And I think the way I brewed it the first time was better. I get a small citrus taste with the initial sip but the rest leaves a lot to be desired. It’s still smooth, maybe somewhat of a spice or tiny kick, but I liked it the way it was the first time.
Though quite honestly for a citrus oolong it’s not the best I’ve had so I’m probably not going to get more after this sample is done. But I’ll try to make it work while it lasts.

I only got to drink two cups of this because my best friend loves grapefruit and when I brewed this she really liked it so I gave it away, however I remember it quite well. The oolong flavor in this tea keeps its integrity while being present in the midst of a grapefruit flavor that is identifiable. I found this tea to taste quite well, but it wasn’t my favorite.

Sipdown.

This is a really interesting tea. It tastes exactly like it sounds like it would – Oolong with a light and very natural flavor of grapefruit. It’s not one I reached for particularly often, but I appreciated it every time I drank it. It’s a nice change of pace. I’ll be picking up more next time I order from Adagio.
