From Adagio Teas

The gemstone Tiger Eye is described as being chatoyant – having a shimmery light reflecting quality with “undulating, contrasting bands of color and luster.” Our tiger eye blend will do the same for your palate with rich notes of chocolate and caramel. Enjoy it in lieu of or with your favorite indulgence.

The tiger eye is a sought-after gemstone for its weight that calms the body when worn as a necklace or bracelet. No wonder the Egyptians believed it brought protection and luck and that Roman soldiers thought it helped maintain bravery during battles. Both ancient and modern Chinese attribute a golden aura to the stone that brings good luck, and it is a popular stone in mala prayer beads. Its chocolate brown with golden strands are a combination of crocidolite and quartz. One sip of our Tiger Eye Tea, with its caramel and chocolate flavor profile, and luck will be yours.

Black Tea | High caffeine | Steep at 212° for 3 minutes.

This tea smells like it is trying to be fudge. Doesn’t really taste like it though. I think other companies have spoiled me for chocolate teas. It is better with almond milk and rock sugar.

I had this tea the other day just delayed writing my note because I was so disappointed by this tea. Anyone who knows me knows I have a major sweet tooth and love chocolate. This tea has chocolate and caramel two sweets I love that I have quit eating with my new diet. I was so excited when I found a tea that described one of my favorite desserts. Well it did not disappoint me in the fact that it tasted like I was drinking chocolate, but I have decided that chocolate is not a good drink. I want it to melt in my mouth not be tea. I will give this tea one more try, but I don’t think my opinion of it will change.

This is from a TTB from last year. I taste a strong chocolate flavor, but no caramel. I don’t really like the black tea Adagio uses. It’s still pretty tasty with sugar and milk, but not quite hot chocolate level.

Discovering Adagio teas, episode #12 (out of 12).

Wonderful aroma after opening the zip bag, with a lot of chocolate and fudge caramel plus a bit of woody smokiness and chocolate liqueur.
After steeping the aroma is much more mellow, very dessert-like, with chocolate and fudge notes intertwined like in layered ice cream.
The taste is also very mellow, slightly sweet, very chocolate-y, with cocoa nibs in the aftertaste.
Really nice pastry tea, well balanced and not oversweetened.

Nattie

This is one I’ve been meaning to try for years

Nattie, I got it in the “Sweet Tooth” sample box. The other three are nice too, if you’re into dessert teas.

So this is a supposed desert tea I was really looking forward to. They say it has chocolate and caramel flavorings along with black tea. So we shall see.
Brewed western style as usual, 212F, 3min.
My first thought about drinking this is “I thought this was supposed to be sweet???”. The natural flavor of this tea is quite bitter, like dark dark cacoa and caramel that has no natural sweetness to it. That second part is weird to me because I always thought Caramel was basically cooked sugar. So no, this tea is really kinda bad in its natural state.

You know what that means… LATTE TIME.

So after adding the almond milk and two splendas, the darkest cacoa and bitter caramel flavors suddenly turned into “Candy bar”. Frankly that’s what I wanted in the first place, as this is supposed to be a dessert tea. I drank two steeps worth of this in latte form and have decided that, if you can stand making a sweetened latte, go for it. But once again, I find that so many Adagio teas just do NOT taste right unless you add either milk or sweetener to them. I really wish they could get their act together on their flavored blends because the potential is there. They just keep falling flat.

So even at 200 for 3 minutes, the Adagio black base is just too bitter in this one. It makes it reminiscent of coffee, which I can’t stand. There was a nice caramel aroma to the brew, but the bitter just overwhelmed all the other flavors that may have been there. I dumped this one out, on a day where I was trapped in a long meeting and badly needed the caffeine.

Did not inspire me to rise up to the challenge of our rival, but it did thrill me enough to fight my way through getting ready & go to work, instead of flopping into a pile of blankets and cats.

This has caramel and coco nibs in it, but all I could taste (before the additions below) was a light caramel/sweet flavor – no chocolate.

Package said to steep for 3 minutes with 212F. I like a slightly more longer steep, so I’ll go for 4 minutes next time. Would make a good early dessert tea.
I added sugar & milk. Then added about a spoonful of caramel flavored syrup because I am 80% sugar water. Still can’t taste the chocolate.

Smells very sweet, almost an artificial sweet smell. once steeped the black tea smell comes through more. I actually really like this one, a nice caramel flavor. I don’t get a lot of chocolate notes, mostly just a black tea with caramel. I got this as a sample. Made it with a bit of rock sugar and milk and it was really good. Probably would not buy it but glad I tried it.

This is one of my favorites from Adagio so far. With some sugar added, it’s got a nice caramel flavor. When I let it cool down a little, I can also taste some chocolate. This is a great tea for a mid-day caffeine pick-me-up.
