Sipdown! (51 | 303)

This seems like a knockoff of DT’s North African Mint? Not that it matters, I don’t think I’ve actually had that tea anyway.

It’s good, though to me there’s a bit too much mint. I can taste the mint and the cinnamon, and not really much in the way of hojicha. Oh, and ginger. I’m not sure I love spearmint and cinnamon together, it ends up being quite sweet? The earthy ginger does help to tone it down a bit.

Overall, not loving it as much as I thought I might, mostly due to the lack of toasty hojicha flavor.

Sipdown of this one. I was pretty excited about getting this sample with my order, but it turned out not to be as great as I’d hoped. It’s just not particularly well-balanced. The spearmint and clove are way too strong, overpowering everything else. I also think this would have been better with peppermint instead of spearmint, but that’s a second-order complaint. I ended up cutting it with straight hojicha to get a more balanced cup. That worked pretty well – the roastiness of the hojicha (a flavor missing in the blend itself because of the imbalance) combined well with the mint and clove.

Nice save! LOL!

I didn’t love this one either, too much spearmint and no hojicha. :(
