White chocolate Irish Creme CappuTEAno. 2.25g steeped in 4oz water steeped in water just below boiling for 5 min. Add 3TB Irish Creme instant cappuccino mix and 1TB white chocolate coffee creamer.
This is kind of a bittersweet cuppa (circumstance wise, not the tea itself). I’m celebrating National Hot Tea Month, but I’m mourning the fact that my left arm still hurts after my flu shot 48hrs ago, I have a sore throat (wasn’t I just sick?!), I’m dealing w/ some really difficult people, and… Adagio has DISCONTINUED their Rum flavored black tea!!! :,(
For instant, it isn’t bad. Adding the tea and the creame make it so much better. The white chocolate gets rid of the artificial after taste and the cream and rum flavored teas give the flavors in the instant mix some depth.
I’m still trying to find out about National Hot Tea Month. I assume it is a US thing. I read a statistic somewhere that in the US less than 5% of tea is drunk hot. Here is Australia, less than quarter of a percent is drunk as iced, so perhaps we don’t need it! However, I’m keen on any excuse.
Yeah, just a US thing. If it was world wide, (and it should be) it’d be International Hot Tea Month. And most of the iced tea here is filled w/ sweeteners.
What passes for iced tea here – and it’s exploded in the last few years, is kind of a sugar cordial with pretend fruit flavours, usually something like .08% tea, and sold as being a healthy alternative to soft drinks. It’s fantastic if you have the plate of a three year old and no family history of diabetes.
That’s the way it is a lot here too. The only place I’ll even dare order an iced tea when I go out to eat is Subway because it’s specifically labeled unsweetend and I can’t stand mine sweetened.
When we owned a tea shop with 160+ tea, the greatest joy on a 40deg. (Celsius) day was deciding which teas I would be making in two three litre jugs. And drinking some! Honeyed Moroccan Mint still my favourite.
White tea lowers body temperature. My favorite is cucumber white.
2nd infusion. 6min. Very boring brown liquor, but it’s a very dark brown. Hmmm… interesting… I’m just getting a strong black tea- no cream and no rum. Strong isn’t to be confused w/ bitter, astringent, or harsh. It’s just not weak. It could easily be taken for a 1st infusion. While there’s no creamy flavor to this infusion, it’s definitely a smooth cuppa. I’m not a fan of black teas, but I like it.
3rd infusion. 7min. Not a necessarily darker liquor, but definitely a more attractive reddish brown. Flavor is pretty much the same as last time.
4th infusion. 8min. W/ dinner. A lil lighter, but still very good.
