Hot cuppa from midweek.

Still a very artificial tasting cup, and I think preparing it in a travel mug (tea press) like I did only served to draw out the artificial tasting quality a little more. Though, I think it also helped me to pinpoint what aspect about the flavour is what’s driving that artificial quality and while I originally thought it was the fig that was off putting to me I’m now thinking that it’s actually the raspberry flavouring in the blend that’s coming on too strongly/heavily.

Sipdown (305)

This was randomly selected thanks to the excel formula. It’s been working out well seeing as it’s been getting me to drink teas I wouldn’t reach for. This, in particular, has been bumping around my stash since December 2017 but I have been ignoring it since it seems to be universally disliked for being overly artificial.

Honestly it seems to have taken almost 3 years of flavor deterioration to become decent. It’s still slightly artificial and floral and there is nothing distinctive other than a jammy black tea base. But it’s drinkable. And forgettable. I am perfectly fine saying good bye.

Sounds like an interesting combination though!

I’m kind of mixed about this tea. I can clearly taste the raspberry and lemon, but it’s tasting a touch on the artificial side to me, and I’m not really a big fan of that. I’m not really picking up any fig, which I typically like in teas. However, despite the slight artificialness, it’s a decent enough cup to drink, and the lemon (from lemongrass) is a nice addition to the sweet raspberry.

Well i’m sad to say that this one was a big ol’ nope for me. I appreciate the share VariaTEA but something in this one doesn’t work well for me. I suspect it’s the raspberry leaf/lemon combination. too bag ’cause i do like the fig flavouring.
