From A Quarter to Tea

“Later came sweetbreads and pigeon pie and baked apples fragrant with cinnamon and lemon cakes frosted in sugar, but by then Sansa was so stuffed that she could not manage more than two little lemon cakes, as much as she loved them."

Sweet lemon and honey with pastry and a full bodied base. It might just become your favorite too.

AQTT #3!

Drinking this now, here at work.

I chose 2oz of this as part of my 6oz contest winnings… not sure what made me go for the 2 full ounces, I think it’s because most of the other teas I was interested in were the limited edition ones which were “off limits” :)

Also I do enjoy lemon desserts and things that smell like lemon desserts such as candles or Scentsy bars, and things that taste like lemon desserts even when they’re not actually desserts.

I did add some milk/blend cream to this as per the suggestion on the bag, which i thought might bring out the dessert aspect, because by sniffing the bag it smelled very lemony but not as much cakey… the cream really helped :) Also as it cools, the lemon is settling down a bit. I may try a bit of sugar next time to see what that does, though i try to avoid adding sugar to my tea and coffee these days. I’d rather eat my sugar in the form of actual desserts :D

I keep sipping as it’s cooling and it’s getting mellower and mellower. I suspect this is a pretty fresh blend also, so I bet as it ages a bit the lemon will fade somewhat.

All in all I am enjoying this, will probably keep it at work! I don’t regret my 2 oz decision!

PS I’m changing my name, I’m over it and I don’t feel really represents ME anymore. To gradually ease all of my 3 readers into this transition, I will continue to have my original username in parenthesis for the time being

LOL! Are there really only three of us left out of all your followers?! Seems like a lot of older members have faded out. :/ I come and go depending on my mood and life.

Have you ever had that lemon cake that Starbucks makes? Because this is JUST LIKE THAT. It’s got a tangy lemony sweetness, balanced out by the black assam. Zesty! Sweet! Rich! Taste minus the calories!

And now for a quick chat about Game of Thrones. SPOILERS.

Do we still think Sansa likes lemon cakes? Or does she now prefer the taste of BLOOD? Is it bad that I like her character now that she’s a little creepy and cold? Now that she’s playing the Game of Thrones? I love that the Lannisters and Boltons have taught her some nasty tricks. I want her to wind up on the iron throne — and almost everything else to be on fire. TEAM STARK.

Flavors: Lemon, Sweet

I haven’t had that cake but lemon cake + Assam sounds awesome.

Evol Ving Ness

Ouf, just that combination sounds glorious!

Cathy Baratheon

Cold and dead inside, yes. Probably nothing tastes good to her anymore. Creepy, I don’t reckon so. Arya is creepy (in a good way) and two creepy Starks would be too much for this world. Also, I think Sansa spurning Littlefinger was not a wise move when playing the game of thrones.

Hurray, my order from A Quarter to Tea came in! Everything smells delicious :) I ordered a very small sample of this to try, mainly because I was tempted by the description of Sansa’s lemon cakes.

For some reason my first sip of this tasted like bitter lemon rind, but when the tea cooled just a little, the flavors settled down and nothing was bitter at all. In fact, it’s an extremely mellow tea. The assam base is very smooth. The lemon is mild. I get a hint of honey and a hint of floral. I can smell the pastry/cake note pretty strongly, but when it comes to the flavor, it plays a background role.

I thought this was a very pleasant lemon tea, but not a distinctive one. It reminded me a lot of David’s lemon (though it smells a lot better than David’s). I’m really glad I got to try it though, A Quarter to Tea’s flavors come and go so quickly. I missed their Key Lime Jade and I’m still kicking myself.

MrQuackers

Wouldn’t you normally think of milk with assam? Lemon seems kinda weird.
