From 52teas

I’ve been procrastinating about posting the Tea of the Week this week, and I’m not sure why, but I told myself I was surely absolutely going to have it posted by Wednesday evening, but then I remembered–duh–Wednesday was the premiere (in 3D IMAX anyway) of the new Star Trek movie.

And you know I love you guys, but I’m so not giving up the special fan sneak peak tickets I bought over a month ago. So here it is Thursday evening and I’m posting the Tea of the Week. And if you haven’t seen the new Star Trek movie yet, RUN to your nearest theater and check it out. It was absolutely amazing–in my opinion, the BEST Star Trek movie EVER, hands down.

On to the tea: it’s one of our awesome caffeine-free honeybush blends, a sweet refreshing blend of organic watermelon and mango flavors with real freeze-dried mango. This is pure, sweet nectar. I’m sure it’s good hot too, but as an iced tea it is a thing of true beauty, just pure refreshment.

so another 52 Tea as part of operation 52tea… i brewed this one up cold and i was right in that i vastly prefer this cold brewed. The taste of this however is more watermelon than mango but i do still taste both. I’m glad i found a way to enjoy this more than hot brewed or kittena would have gotten a free .90 oz from me as this was a shared order tea lol

Preparation
Iced 8 min or more
Kittenna

I’m glad it’s good cold! That’s what I was hoping for, and also why I picked up Watermelon Blackberry HB from momo.

Yeah, I’d say the title of this one screams, “ice me!”

It seems it takes a little while for me to warm up to melon flavored teas. I can never resist trying it hot even though I know it will quite likely give me a case of the icky face, I mean hot watermelon…ugh. Needless to say (but I’m apparently saying it anyways) I was not at all a fan of this as a hot tea. Thankfully, it’s much better cold. The mango flavor seems a little subdued to me. I know the flavors develop a little better in 52teas blends when I let them sit for a while, so since I just got this in the mail recently, it’s probably not the best representation of what the flavor can truly do. I’ll wait to rate this on my next go-around, but so far, the watermelon is definitely there, but I was hoping that the mango would be equally (or even more) present.

My hubby qualified in all his training, and is flying home right now, as I type. Sadly, his grandfather passed away a couple of days ago, so his homecoming is going to be bittersweet. I better get going so I can prepare some comfort food- I’m sure he’s looking forward to a home cooked meal after pretty much 3 weeks of cafeteria food.

Sorry for your loss… Comfort food is always helpful, he will appreciate that I’m sure.

I iced this a few days ago and it was fairly good. Sweet enough and juicy!

Backlog:

Yummy! Mango and watermelon are two fruits that I wouldn’t normally think of putting together … not sure exactly why that is, but, the flavors work very well together in this tisane. It is sweet, and the watermelon flavors from 52Teas usually tend to taste a bit more like jolly rancher watermelon than true watermelon, but I like jolly rancher watermelon, so I’m OK with that.

The nutty notes of the honeybush cut through some of the sweeter fruit notes to create a very palate pleasing flavor that is not too cloying. It is sweet, to the point of tasting a bit like liquefied candy but I’m not finding it to be unpleasant. (That’s my sweet tooth talking there.) A really good tisane – it’s amazing iced!

Another OLD full pouch from StarFevre!  Thank you again!  Still a smidge of flavoring remaining.  Oddly I don’t see these two fruits together often, but it works.  All very refreshing on a honeybush base.  I just wish I had been able to try it fresh, as this is a unique blend from 52Teas… heck, the honeybush is unique enough… I don’t know why more companies don’t use it.   But I can only imagine how fantastic this was when it was first blended. Poor tea.

Agree – love honeybush!
