I messed this up.

I will postpone rating this tea until I sprout a brain….

…it might be a while.

For your entertainment, here is my 34 step process of how to destroy this tea:
1. Get up ridiculously early
2. Stumble into the kitchen – eyes barely open, drunk with sleep
3. Overfill kettle and put to boil, spilling water everywhere in the process
4. Try reading the instructions, but because you’re so tired the words don’t make sense and may as well be hieroglyphics. Instead, stare at package and eventually exclaim “oooh pwitty!”
5. Proceed by guess
6. Tear open the bag and enjoy the aroma….mmmm…pancakes. Try not to eat it (I’ll let you guess what I did)
7. Enjoy the aroma for so long that your brain wakes up enough to realize that you have to pee…like right now!
8. Ignore brain – cross legs instead
9. Scoop overly generous teaspoonfuls of tea into your teapot
10. Spill a little extra in for good measure
11. Realize that wasn’t a teaspoon, it was a tablespoon
12. Shrug and carry on
13. Wait for water to boil
14. Realize that you can go pee while you wait
15. Walk into the wall on your way to the bathroom
16. Walk into the wall on your way back from the bathroom
17. Slip on some water on the kitchen floor and curse whoever spilled it without cleaning it up
18. Realize you’re the one who spilled it. Clean it up.
19. Forget that you already put tea into the teapot
20. Put in another spoonful without looking
21. Realize that there was already tea in there, and AGAIN that is not a friggin teaspoon! It’s a tablespoon!
22. Shrug
23. Now that the water is boiled start pouring it over the tea
24. Catch the edge of the strainer at the perfect angle so that it shoots everywhere, including on you. Mutter obscenities because it burns, but don’t stop pouring – that’s far too logical
25. Leave it to brew while you go to brush your teeth
26. Walk into the wall again on your way to the bathroom
27. Forget tea brewing and proceed to brush teeth, have shower, and start to get dressed
28. Realize the tea is brewing, wrap a towel around you and rush to the kitchen
29. On your way there, say to the wall “haha! Missed me this time” because you didn’t walk into it
30. While you are trash talking at the wall, walk into the cupboard door which you apparently left open earlier – mutter obscenities of your choice
31. Slip on the water that had shot everywhere in step 24 – drop towel that you are wearing
31. Cover up. Start cleaning up the water.
32. Realize the tea is still brewing
33. Pour tea which is now so black it could be mistaken for tar
34. Burn tongue on hot tea

And the final sipdown of the day, I didn’t have a whole lot of tea today lol but this was my before bed cup of sweetness, possibly a bit too much caffeine, but I got lots of packing done at least haha. I will miss this black tea, really enjoyed this one from the Bestseller’s sampler. Until we meet again, Pancake Breakfast! See previous notes :)

I can’t believe that this arrived so soon! Yippee!

Dry leaf smells just like pancakes dripping with butter and maple syrup. YUM! Maple-y goodness with a hint of butter. Sweet but not too sweet. I can taste the pancake too, although it does take a few sips to develop.

Yummy and delightfully different.

Cofftea

Can’t wait for the remaining ones to be posted in the website. What a week for my computer to take a dump. I don’t think I’ve ever been so disappointed to miss a TOTW.

Every time I taste this tea, it just makes me happy! A friend and I hadn’t really talked in a long time due to some extenuating circumstances in life (for example, me breaking up with my [now ex] boyfriend, who is one of her husband’s best friends and lives right next to her). In an effort to change things, even just a little, I asked her if we could do something and she ended up meeting me at my place for some tea.

We talked politely about what was going on in our lives over the past 4-5 months… she asked me a lot about tea, since my more focused passion arose in this time period. And we got to talking. I started showing her the tea options I had, asking what she would like me to make for us to drink while we talked. All of a sudden, it hit me… Pancake Breakfast! DUH!

I pulled it down and showed her and her eyes lit up. She immediately said, “DONE.” and we proceeded.

The flavor is just as it ever has been. Delicious, pancakey, buttery, and syrupy. The perfect tea to catch up with an old friend over. And it worked! After a while, we both were more comfortable and we really did connect again. So thanks, 52teas! ;)

I haven’t touched it for months, but I was definitely in the mood and wanted to pick a special tea to christen my new little pot!

It was perfect. Enjoyed with a dash of maple syrup!

ok so the first bag of this I had I wasn’t very fond of, but since it has such great reviews I thought I would give it another try. Point blank, I can’t imagine living without it. Maybe this bag is just better or maybe my taste is more refined (doubt that) but this is legitimately one of the most delicious teas ever. I am finally getting the mapley deliciousness and the true golden brown pancake flavor! This and Caramel Pumpkin Cheesecake are WONDERS!!

The reason I’m logging a review on this again is because my NON tea drinking boyfriend (a loyal consumer of NAS energy drinks and black coffee) asked for a sip of my tea last night to make some Advil while he was studying. Not a minute later he said “Can I have a full cup of that?” Ummmm WHAT?! He has taken a few sips of teas he has liked, or at least not hated (he likes Walter Bishop Tea too) but he has NEVER had a cup of tea. Well, he had a small cup of Walter tea when I had a pot of it, but he wanted a full mug of Pancake Breakfast tea. Miracles. Now I need to order more because I have discovered a new love of it and my boyfriend (Rick) actually enjoyed a full mug.

Lala

I love that you are convincing your bf to come over to the tea side!

Ellyn

I love when non tea drinkers suddenly see – even a little – why tea is so wonderful!

jessiwrites

Yeah, I really need to try this one. Everyone raves about it!

Jackie O

It’s so yummy jessiwrites you should order a bag and try it out!

Wow. Just wow. This is freakin’ delicious. It is my first 52teas, and won’t be my last. The dry tea smells wonderful. Just like pancakes. I stood there in the kitchen with my nose buried in the bag just smelling it. Yummy. The brewed tea lives up to the hype of the scent. The pour smells vaguely like maple syrup, and the taste of the tea really is pancake-y, but not in a fake, nasty way. The drink is smooth and overall delightful. I bought this from Ashley here on Steepster, and I’m definitely going to be buying more of this when I run out. Seriously get yourself some of this tea. Its worth it.

On an unrelated note, I just figured out on a comment how to bold something. Watch out! I might bold everything in sight (web stuff, other than surfing, is not my strong suit, as you may have guessed).

ETA: Ack! This isn’t in the permanent collection? Noooooooooo! That means I’ll have to ration it!

Camiah

Rats! I must have missed it. I do really love this tea. I’m going to have to stalk their website.

CHAroma

Aww, I’m sorry. I just brewed up my first cup of this tea this morning, and I’m blown away too. It really is a fantastic tea! Maybe they’ll make it part of the permanent collection if everyone keeps raving about it.

CHAroma

Actually, I can still see 1 pouch for sale on this page: http://www.52teas.com/in-stock/in-stock-2/

Camiah

Sweet! Thank you so much! I don’t know how I missed it, but it is mine! All mine!

Mmmm pancake tea!

I’ve noticed I’ve been having this tea every time I make pancakes. This morning I did a full review with pics.. with pancakes! Whoo! pancakes!

Blog Entry: http://oolongowl.wordpress.com/2013/02/17/pancake-breakfast-from-52-teas-tea-review/

My husband has been requesting french toast now instead of pancakes. I bet there’s a french toast tea out there somewhere, at least there better be!

Whispering Pines Tea Company

Welllp, that made me decide to make pancakes pretty effectively! :)

ashmanra

Dang it, there just had to be a picture of the pancakes, with butter and syrup, no less.

Indigobloom

I had waffles yesterday morning, and they are gluten free so end up tasting almost just like pancakes. If only I had some of this tea to go with it lol

A sad sipdown from Wednesday. I’ve enjoyed every cup of this tea, and it’s got me through many difficult and stressful days. I love the strong, sweet maple flavour, all the more so given that it’s paired with a base that stands up to milk. It’s another one where I’ve said pretty much all I have to say in previous notes, but it will be sadly missed. I’d definitely pick up another bag if the chance arose in the future. I don’t get much “pancake”, but the maple is enough for me!

Wow. It really is pancake-y. After having that maple tea a few days ago I thought I knew what I was in for with this, but I was SO WRONG.

It has a maple flavour but a lot of what I’m getting is butter and pancake/pastry. How do they do this?

My bf walked by so I got him to take a sip and asked if he thought it was pancake-y. NOPE, he says, but he also said that if I want he’ll take me out for pancakes somewhere. So… YES PLEASE. Off we go!

(And maybe if we hit a mall I will buy that gongfu pot from DavidsTea? Maybe? IDK. Gaiwans can be so pretty too though, but if I get the little glass pot I can look at the leaves…)

And the glass pot will also serve well for those blooming flower teas if you ever end up with some. :)

ne14t

I have said Gung Fu pot from DavidsTea, and its a nice little unit, I got it with a set of the compass cups as they didn’t have the bubble ones I was looking for. It’s certainly a nice way to have a different flavor experience, especially with Oolongs.

TeaLady441

Cool! I ended up picking one up so I could play around with it. It’s adorable.

ashmanra

Buy ALL the things! :)

TeaLady441

Yep. Steeperites are a BAD influence when it come to money/self-control.

Shmiracles

goddamnit you said it!

Haha. I want tea to make my husband feel compelled to do my bidding. (:
