From 52teas

So, you all know that I have been working on clearing out the last of my Zoomdweebie’s Tea Blends to make room for more 52teas, ManTeas, and MySweetHoneybush blends. I had a lot of teas pouched up, and I had a lot of tea waiting to be pouched. From the latter, I have created our tea of the week for this week.

I know many of you think I am crazy; I’m confirming your suspicions with this week’s blend, which is TRULY and completely one-of-a-kind and definitely a limited edition blend. I could not recreate this if I tried. In varying and unknown proportions, this tea has all of the following blends mixed into it:

Apple
Apricot
Blackberry
Blueberry
Cranberry
Cherry
Ginger
Grapefruit
Key Lime
Lemon
Lime
Mango
Orange
Peach
Pineapple
Raspberry
Strawberry
Watermelon
Ginger, Peach and Lemongrass
Tangerine
Banana
Honey Lemon
Guava
Cran-Raspberry

There are fruit peels, dried fruit, freeze dried fruit, some ginger and some lemongrass mixed in it. It is spectacularly ridiculous. I’m not sure if you will taste each of the flavors in every cup or if every cup will be a little different, but it will definitely be interesting.

Finally giving this a go. As we all know by now, every pouch of this is super different, so obviously I am commenting only on my pouch. The dry smell is of tea, but faint. Not much fruitiness, just a sweet mild vegetal tea taste.

Steeped, the liquor is a relatively pale yellow, looks like a mild tea. The steeped smell is reminiscent of the dry – sweet, mild, green tea, but also has fruit notes. All sweet. Exciting. I’m a little apprehensive, but only because I’ve been having a questionable relationship with greens lately.

The beau was in charge of water temp and steep time, but he assures me that he let it cool considerably after boiling. He is actually the one who recommended this tea for our evening tea, strange since he claims to not like greens at all. I think he was just drawn in by the ingredients list (aka: YES).

First sips continue to be mild. I get fruit taste at the end of the sip, much as I do in the smell. No way to tell what fruit I am tasting, but it is slightly reminiscent of very merry berry medley and blueberry cream cheese danish, so maybe a light blueberry flavour? Looking in the pot, the tea leaves are quite large and there are chunks of something or other here and there.

I can’t say anything specific about this tea really. It’s certainly nice, and probably a good way to get me back into my flavoured greens. I’m still getting mild green tea, with little to no vegetal taste and mild fruits. Not blowing me away, but definitely a nice cup to sip absent-mindedly.

My curiosity led me to purchase this tea – and this was my first purchase from 52teas. I am a definite fan! I’m sure everybody’s will taste differently, but mine was wonderful – very fruity and sweet. I could taste apricot, berry, lemongrass and a hint of ginger in my first cup. My second cup was much more fruity – apricot, cherry and berry. The green tea is high quality, too. Overall, this is a very refreshing and unique blend. Yummy!

I find it funny this was your 1st purchase from them lol. Welcome to the 52teas family!:)

KeenTeaThyme

Thanks! :) I know, my husband questioned why I would want to try this tea over others, but I loved the idea and took a risk. I’m so happy I did! :)

There are personal preference reasons why I doubt I’d like this, but I love the fact that he did this blend- my mom snidely calls my personal blends “kitchen sink blends” (she likes very simple flavors and isn’t big on tea to begin w/)… but this is way more over the top than even I would go:)

I started an interesting thread here http://steepster.com/discuss/863-steepster-poll-rating-methodology-personal-preference-or-flavor-accuracy on the theory behind tasting notes and ratings and I think the one reason I’m avoiding it is because neither method would work.

Method 1- Flavor accuracy: It would be way too hard to distinguish alll the flavor profiles going on here

Method 2- Personal preference: I’m not a fruity tea person normally and my own personal preference is that I be able to distinguish all ingredients (along with that they are cohesive and I can taste the base tea). So I think I’m meant to admire this one from afar lol.

Kitchen Sink really packs a one-two punch. When I first sip the tea, it tasted quite green and vegetal. It was quite nice, pleasant and mild. Then I swallowed, and seemingly out of nowhere a wave of fruitiness hit me. I couldn’t begin to tell you something specific from it. It was a citrusy berry-like sweet tangy extravaganza of flavor.

As I drank more of the tea, the initial green tea taste and the fruitiness blended in my mouth until it was just a symphony of fresh, fun flavors. It was just fantastic :D

Southern Boy Teas

All of these glowing reviews are making me sad that I can never recreate this blend. When it’s gone, it REALLY is gone forever.

Suzi

It really is a pity!

My so-called “random” free pouch from 52teas!

I love the green tea base. It’s buttery and green and nummy. I can’t pick out one fruit in particular; it’s just plain fruity. Kind of like what happens when you eat one of every flavor of Runts candies at the same time. YUM!!

I don’t feel it’s fair to put a rating on this one as I’m not much of a Green Tea drinker .. That said, it was definitely palatable and I did manage to consume two cups of it ..

It smells sweet & fruity, only it doesn’t deliver more than a weak hint of fruit flavour .. And the name didn’t help as I kept just thinking ’it’s a wishy-washy melding of this-&-that, diluted in lukewarm water’ .. I know it’s more a case of ‘everything but …….’, BUT my head took it to a whole different level (sorry!)

And again, please note this is being written by a flavoured back / Masala Chai kind of girl! This just isn’t my thing, so rest of the pouch (near full) is going to a green-tea-loving friend who I’m sure she will get some joy out of it :D

Thanks to KiTT and her generosity, I now have some interesting options to try. This was the first on my list. I actually had the first steep last night, added a little more tea this morning and resteeped, the flavor was still full and fruity. I don’t think I can add anything to the volumes already written on this tea. I like it, I enjoy the fruitiness and like others, find it to be a good blend (like punch) with no one flavor taking center stage. I also like that fact that in all that fruitiness, the sencha is still present. To me, this plast point, is what makes the tea successful.

This wasn’t nearly as intense as I expected. There is a lot going on, yet it’s very mild. Once my tastebuds had settled down and embraced that this was a more subtle tea than I was bracing them for, I quite liked it. It’s a quieter tea than any of the other 52teas blends I’ve had, which is in fact nice.

The sencha is actually most prominent off the top, and it’s quite good. Light. This is more of a lightly flavoured sencha to me than a fruit tea. The fruit is more noticeable at the end of each sip/in the aftertaste. I can’t really discern any individual flavours. I’m not even going to try. But, it does remind me a lot of those little tins of fruit cocktail that everyone ate in elementary school.

Just got this in the mail! I couldn’t wait to try it :) The smell of the tea just smells fruity in general, can’t really seem to pick out any specific smells.

Wow, this tastes pretty good. Definitely very fruity, but i like how i still taste green tea in it. Something is giving me a weird aftertaste, i think it might be the ginger? I think I should have let it steep a little longer though, the flavor is pretty subtle right now. That’s what second steeps are for :P

Backlogging I got this from Little Mew Brew thank you so much. This smells like green tea and fruity. And steeped is the same way only strong fruit smell. This tastes like fruit mabe with abit of ginger and a light good green tea. I think this tea is really good.

This is an interesting tea. I, like others apparently, expected it to be an explosion of perhaps too many flavors meshed together, but it wasn’t. It’s sweet, but more of a banana type of sweetness. I enjoyed it, but it wasn’t my favorite. I did think that the dried tea smelled really pleasant, though. Fruity and green.
