From 3 Leaf Tea

TASTING NOTES:
Ripe, Smooth, Sweet

An unexpected flavor PEARing, that works oh so well! Ripe, juicy Bartlett pear flavor expertly blended with our smooth, premium matcha.

How did we decide to try blending a pear flavored matcha? Well, it happened by accident. One day, our owner, Luciana, was eating a pear while drinking matcha and realized that both flavors complimented each other. From there, she went on a mission to create a delicious pear flavored matcha. The rest is history.

INGREDIENTS:
Premium grade matcha infused with natural pear flavor.

I wasn’t sure what to expect from this matcha since there are so many interpretations of pear – it can be juicy and sweet, floral, baked, creamy…

There’s just a lot to choose from!

When I smelled the dry matcha, it didn’t really give any hint either since there wasn’t really a smell. So, when I whisked this one up and then made it iced I was a bit surprised at first how much it did actually distinctly taste like pear! It’s definitely the floral style of pear, and not really sweet at all – but that last part doesn’t surprise me since all of 3 Leaf Tea’s matchas aren’t sweetened, so you just kind of have to expect a dryer/more muted flavour without the boost of sugar. It’s still not a strong flavour, it’s just strong_er_ than I thought it would be.

I think I probably would have prefer something more in the vein of creamy pear, personally – I couldn’t really decide as I drank it if I liked the floral elements or if it was just too much for me. Maybe hot they would have been better as that would have been more soothing, but iced it gets a smidge perfume-y after a while. Still, overall I thought this was a nice interpretation of “pear matcha” and I enjoyed my drink!

Tried this one for the first time today so just wanted to drop a little note!

I prepared it “cold brewed”, meaning shaken with water and ice. I will say, the flavoring is a bit lighter than the other fruit flavors I’ve tried (banana, peach, and raspberry). So I’m not sure I would try it as a latte as I feel like the pear would be overpowered by the milk. However, I really enjoyed it cold. It was nice and refreshing, with a smooth, grassy matcha flavor and a sweet, lightly floral pear note.

I don’t know if this is one that I would order every time, as I really like the raspberry for an iced matcha, but I’ll happily drink it when I do have it!
