Additional notes: Sipping a bit of this one for a bit of celebrating. I usually do NOT care about the grammys at all, but this year, I feel like many talented people I’ve admired for years are getting some awards, or at least some mentions: Bettye LaVette, Anderson East, Kendrick Lamar, Janelle Monae (though I’ve loved her earlier albums more), Punch Brothers, and most importantly, for probably my frame-for-frame favorite music video ever, ‘This Is America’ by the talented Donald Glover, Ludwig Goransson, and Hiro Murai. The video is the thing but I think the song won four awards? Yowzas. I instantly loved that video. I don’t even watch music videos and I didn’t even watch the grammys… but this is a tea website so I’ll stop.

One of my favorite memories of San Francisco was riding the streetcar down Market St when I was having a bad day. I was on my way to the Imperial Tea Court to have some tea. When I got off the streetcar, Janelle Monae was putting on a free outdoor show, I think for Salesforce employees. What a performer! She made the whole crowd boogie. I had already loved the Electric Lady album but was smitten from then on.

Oh my gosh. That must have made your day 1,000% better and you were already a fan, which was even more awesome. Things like that don’t happen around these parts. haha.

Also, Janelle Monae didn’t win album of the year, so I don’t think she won anything last night which is a shame. I think her album should have won out of all of those, even if I like her other albums better. I won’t say anything about some of the other albums in the category, but I do like the Black Panther soundtrack (even if I somehow haven’t seen the movie yet.)

My icon photo is Richard Mayhew from the graphic novel ‘Neverwhere’ by Neil Gaiman, Mike Carey & Glenn Fabry.

Most of the teas listed in my cupboard are actually sample sizes. I don’t really have 2,000 ounces of tea around here! Many of my teas have only one teaspoon left… maybe two. But I like keeping them in my cupboard list for reference to what I could be sipping. Usually, I write tasting notes once for each tea. I’m still drinking them, just not writing tasting notes each time!

I’m always in search of: Hattialli, Qu Hao black, Jin Jun Mei, teas using marshmallow root.

My dislikes: hibiscus, ginger (unless in chai), turmeric, bee pollen, charcoal type flavors

My ratings:
95-100 – Super awesome deliciousness favorites – cupboard essential
80-95 – Also pretty delicious
65-80 – Pretty good
50-65 – Okay
1-50 – Probably won’t want to sip it again

I’m planning on being a Steepsterer as long as there IS a Steepster, so if you’re not hearing from me, that means something happened to my health… if you know what I mean. (Or as evidenced by the great computer hiatus of 2019, something happened to my computer… I have a dumb phone so can’t access internet on that. As of 12/20/21 my wifi might start getting unreliable.)

Happy sipping!
