247 Tasting Notes
I got this in a swap and I honestly can’t taste the gingerbread flavor at all. My boyfriend also has a small tin of this from the Holiday Cheer set that I gave his parents last year when I visited and that one doesn’t taste gingerbread-y either.
So on the front of being gingerbread flavored, it loses points. But it is still a decent black tea. It has some vanilla-y notes but mostly just tastes like a ceylon. I definitely won’t buy this again but if it comes my way, I’ll still drink it.
Flavors: Vanilla
I made myself a cup of this like an hour ago and completely forgot I was steeping it for a solid chunk of time and was expecting it to taste awful. I quick took it out of my Ingenuitea and it was fine… I’m convinced its impossible to oversteep this tea!
The black base definitely shines through a little more than usual and the raspberry becomes more of an undertone but it’s still a nice cuppa.
I had this again today and it’s just okay. Definitely not something I’ll be picking up more of. The most prominent flavor is the walnut and the caramel and maple flavors are really mellow. It’s not particularly sweet but could make a nice dessert tea probably.
Flavors: Green, Nutty, Walnut
I’m getting over a bout of something so I’ve been sticking to herbals for the last two days. This one was in the sampler box I picked up and I love it. It totally beat out my childhood favorite, Raspberry Zinger, and my favorite peach tea which was the White Peach loose tea from Wegmans.
It tastes exactly like unsweetened peach juice! I do taste a little bit of citrus undertones but it’s mostly delicious peachy goodness.
Flavors: Citrus, Peach
For whatever reason, the peach flavoring in tea never tastes right to me. It’s a shame because I love peaches and don’t mind peach flavoring in candy, but I just can’t stand it in tea. So wierd.
I actually can’t stand peach flavored things usually and peaches themselves are a little too sweet for me but I loved this one enough that I’ve been debating whether or not to pick up some more peach teas to try them out :3
I had this one earlier with a chocolate no bake cookie and it was wonderful. Buuuut I have no doubts in my mind that the wonderful was because of the extra sugar from the cookie. No cream this time and it was still good. I don’t think this is the greatest at being a stand alone tea but it’s very good with cream and/or sweetener or dessert.
I stopped by the grocery store and celestial seasonings teas were on sale. I figured since I was getting into the “loose leaf tea snob” territory, it might be good to come back to some old favorites so I picked up the fruit tea sampler.
I think this might be my favorite cherry tea (second to Capital Tea’s Cherry Tisane) and I’m not sure if it’s because it’s actually good, cherry teas tend to taste awful, or because I associate Celestial Seasonings with my childhood. It’s definitely tart, but the cherry and hibiscus flavors are strong and blend so smoothly.
Flavors: Cherry, Hibiscus, Tart
Today was a busy, busy day so I threw a tea bag of this in my travel mug and went on my merry way (twice) today.
As it cools, it loses a bit of it’s flavor but it’s still outrageously wonderful. I’m getting a little too close to the end of this box for comfort though, I will definitely have to reorder!
Any idea how old it is? I could definitely taste the gingerbread when I tried this (although it still wasn’t one of my favorites, I like gingerbread with strong molasses notes, and the flavor was a bit artificial as well).
No idea how old the one in my collection is but the one that I gave to my boyfriend’s parents I tried when I first gave it to them last December and again when it was around 6 months old but I doubt it was stored well. I couldn’t taste any difference between the gingerbread or the pumpkin spice teas :/
