42 Tasting Notes
Got this for Valentine’s Day and decided to try it this evening. It’s very pleasant, light yellow liquor. I saw lavender colored things in the dried leaves and was worried it would mess with the bergamot flavor, but they didn’t. It reminds me of a light version of my normal Earl Grey…yum.
Preparation
I tend to steep white tea longer than most…5 minutes give or take a half.
I was a little afraid of this, it ended up getting pushed to the back of my cupboard.
My first sip was reminiscent of my coffee drinking days. The initial taste was familiar—vanilla soy latte. The after taste is definitely coconut.
I’m on the fence.
Preparation
I used one teabag in a liter of water and steeped it for four hours… or so in a thermos. When I finally got to drinking it, it was absolutely divine. A rich almond aroma came from the cup, a vanilla flavor ran across my tongue and a deep, sweet almond flavor remained on my palette. Must remember not to take this to class, it distracted me from running my nuclear magnetic resonance spectra.
Preparation
the leaves reminded me of bonito flakes, kinda smelled a little fishy. The end product has an aromatic wisp of cotton candy, but it’s a pretty typical green tea with a itty bitty smokey tinge. Overall, it’s simply good. I may have over steeped it because my pupkins grabbed my attention after the timer went off.
I took a nap, woke up and finished off the pot of now cold tea. This tastes a lot like genmaicha
Preparation
This has been sitting in my cabinet for a couple of months now. I have been afraid to try it, because I haven’t been too impressed with the Superfruit Teas TRoP has; Blueberry is the exception.
While brewing, it reminds me of bubble gum, the color took a while to emerge, but it began to arise like a red snake slowly dispersing in swirls.
Three minutes is maybe a bit too long for this blend. It is a smidge tart and bitter, but unlike most teas with hibiscus, I don’t feel like I have to force it down.
Preparation
Nicely balanced blend of masala. Robust anise/cinnamon aroma with a nice cardamon taste. Hue was an orange red.
A little aside:
I decided to drink this for lunch, not having eaten anything since 6 a.m., after the second sip I got the jitters.
