2170 Tasting Notes
Even though it doesn’t have any orange flavor, this is my contribution for today’s sipdown challenge – National Creamsicle Day. I do have a Lemon Lavender Creamsicle tea from 52teas that I could have made instead, but it’s a white tea and what I really wanted was a decaf option tonight. Plus, this is one of my favorites. So vanilla it is!
Preparation
We’re having breakfast for dinner tonight – fried eggs and buttered toast with grape jelly. My husband also wanted those frozen microwaveable sausage biscuits, so add those to the mix. Yellow mustard for me, please. Having some of this sturdy decaf tea with all the rest. It feels a little like a secret party, just the two of us in the kitchen together and eating breakfast at dusk.

I finally bought this tea! I like it, too, and we love breakfast for supper, especially in cool weather by the fire.
I missed your comments this past week! gmathis, it was definitely lovely and homey. Breakfast at any other time of the day feels like such a treat, I’m not sure why. ashmanra, breakfast in cool weather by a fire sounds AMAZING. I’ll have to try that one day. I’d love to install a fire pit in the backyard at some point. I’m glad you’re loving this tea too. It’s so nice to have good decaf options later in the day.

I’m currently reading a book about parenting and childhood trauma. It’s pretty heavy at times, so I’ve been reading it slowly for the past month or so. I was looking through my list of teas to see what might possibly fit for a book like this and came across this one. Perfect. A nurturing tea and a book about parenting.
It does feel nurturing in this moment. It’s smoky and dark, which I love.
Second Steep
10 ounces water + 212 degrees + 21 minutes
Not a bad resteep. Maybe a little light but still flavorful.

Preparation
James was making himself some tea this morning, so I took the opportunity to ask for a cup of berry black tea while he was standing near the kettle. He picked the very last bag of this strawberry tea, which I love, and made me an extra large mug of it. He added a lot of cream, so it was ultra decadent, but it did take away from some of the strawberry flavor. Still loved it and drank it really quickly though.

I didn’t know they did a strawberry! I have a semi-permanent stock of St. Dalfour Black Cherry and Golden Peach; snapped up whenever I can find them locally.
It’s very good! I got a couple of bags in a swap, but I’ve never seen any of the St. Dalfour teas in a store. I don’t see teas on their website either, so I thought maybe they had been discontinued. I hope you’re still able to find your favorites!
It’s hit and miss at our health food stores. I’ve had more random luck finding St. Dalfour at the outlet places like Tuesday Morning and Big Lots. (Until recently. Our new Big Lots’ tea selection is terrible.)
Oh I’ve come across some great finds at TJ Maxx too.
Oh goodness, this was awful! I’m not sure what I did, maybe (probably) overleafed, but the liquid came out cloudy and had this strange bitter taste. It wasn’t even the bitterness that threw me off, it wasn’t that bad honestly, but it was something about the flavor. Maybe this one’s gone bad, but my other Joseph Wesley teas seem to be holding up well. I’m not really a huge fan of Darjeeling anyway, but this was a different kind of yuck.
