1237 Tasting Notes
When the store clerk told me that no Milk Oolongs come without milk flavoring I should have stopped and bought a different tea but I couldn’t help it. It’s not as good as Davids but but steep time is long and the taste isn’t all that bad. I’ve only been able to get one steep out of the leaves.
Preparation
Green TieGuanYin is so amazing. I rinsed twice. First time on purpose second time on accident.
First steep.
30 – 1 min. I’m tasting honeysuckle. It’s kinda sweet all around really. it much grass flavor.
2 min. Where’d the honey suckle go? It’s all green flavor now; grass, slight hay
3 min Cooled down a bit. What is this flavor? It’s so smooth. Kinda floral, kinda green.
Preparation
Should have realized this was an oolong that brewed closer to black tea qualities when I looked at the leaves. Not a big deal I’m just not as big of a fan of black as I am green. BUT! This is good! Definitely taste the cacao and caramel. The honeysuckle …hmm kinda, maybe?
My daughter seems to like it too.
Preparation
My first two tries with this tea were failures. My problem? I didn’t rinse the leaves. Its amazing how much of a difference that makes!
1st steep. Vegetal flavors. Nothing milky. Kinda more of a green then an oolong. Also some hay and grass notes.
2nd steep. Getting smoother. Still more vegetal though.
3rd steep. Bam! Nice and silky. Milk qualities and flavors coming out. If it wasn’t 10pm I would keep going but I want to sleep tonight.
Preparation
Red Leaf how do you make it smell so good?! The color of the matcha tells me its a bit of a lower grade. Going to do my usual where I’ll mix the matcha with some hot water while the almond milk is warming. Then froth the almond milk while it mixes into the matcha. And i think i broke my frother. Arg. Anyway.
First sip all foam. Not my best foam. I want to really like this but thus far it’s just meh. It tastes a bit too artificial. Not bad just not what I thought. Might taste amazing in a drink or smoothie though.
Please note that color of flavored matcha teas changes when mixed with natural flavor. There seems to be a reaction of some sort that affects the color of the final product to more yellow-green. At this point it can only be changed if we start using artificial flavor, which will not happen anytime soon.
Not a Fan TTB. I am very much a fan of this tea. Some really great vegetal and grass notes. I’d really like to do a cold steep and see how it turns out. It’s more of a green then an oolong I think. It has more of a green flavor then an oolong flavor but it definitely has some of those smooth oolong qualities.
Flavors: Grass, Vegetal
Preparation
Not a fan TTb. You really have to be a fan of smoky teas in order to enjoy this one. And I am not a fan so I can only say that all I taste is smoke. Actually I feel like I am sipping on a campfire. It tastes exactly like the smoke that follows you around a campfire and makes your eyes water and throat burn. I can’t finish this…. Campfires do not belong in my mouth…
Ok last tea for the night. Not a fan TTB. This one is either stale or … I dont know… I feel like I’m just drinking hot water. Hot water with a lil flavor. Its not even getting that bitter and its been at least 3 mins. Rhubarb in tea doesn’t usually bring out rhubarb flavor.
