Going through my cupboard, I’m finding so any teas I never reviewed. Well, I can’t remember much about this tea other than I liked it. So a new cup is steeping as I type this.

So… this is good. It’s not really sweet, but instead dark and savory (hello, Chestnut!). A perfect tea for fall when the weather is turning cold and the leaves start falling. Yummy.

So I apparently never reviewed this. Shame on me!

This is a fruity sweet black tea. It was okay hot, but I made the most wonderful jug of iced tea from this over the summer. It’s lovely, and light, and perfectly refreshing. I sent on the remainder to Arshness in the Pass Your Stash TTB. Hopefully she enjoys it!

Milk Oolong, the really heavy, smells like it’s going bad, milk oolong is one of my favorite teas. And this tea hits me right in my sweet spot.

There’s something about a good milk oolong that takes me right to my happy taste. The butter flavor rolling over my tongue, the almost salty-sweetness of the tea. YUM.

How did I never review this? I’m usually so good about that.

I bought some of this from Shab Row Tea Emporium in Frederick, MD. It’s nice. Minty with the feel (if not quite the taste) of chocolate. Sugar doesn’t really add much to this tea, though I do like adding a bit of Herbal Infusions Cacao Tea to up the chocolate taste. It’s nice but not really something I’ll get again.

Flavors: Chocolate, Peppermint

Philadelphia Coffee & Tea Festival #14

This was the last tea I sampled. It was late, vendors were starting to pack up, and I was still exploring the back room. This vendor was tucked away in the corner and was busy talking to somebody else. I managed to sneak a sample of the coconut black tea and it was delicious. Coconuty, creamy – exactly as a coconut tea should be.

drank Four Seasons Oolong by Health&Tea

Philadelphia Coffee & Tea #13

After trying the GABA oolong, the vendor offered me a sample of the Four Seasons Oolong, to cleanse my palate, I think. This is a nice oolong, smooth and buttery with floral notes. It’s lighter than I tend to like my oolongs, however, and I either would have steeped it longer or used more leaves to see how that changed the flavor.

Always happy to try new oolongs!

drank Serene GABA Oolong by Health&Tea

Philadelphia Coffee & Tea Festival #12

Hooray! I finally got Steepster to add this tea. It kept giving me errors, and I eventually realized it was because their database didn’t like “Health & Tea” with spaces.

This was an interesting tea. I’d never heard of GABA before, and I was intrigued. I love oolong and am always up for new oolong experiences.

So I don’t know if this is true of GABA as a whole but the entire taste of the tea was just wrong. It did not taste like oolong, instead tasting more like black tea. It had the sour and bitter flavor notes I associate with black tea, and none of the buttery notes I love and adore in oolong. So disappointed.

This tea smelled divine. However, the sample I got had just finished steeping and very hot, which hid the flavors. After letting it cool a bit, I started getting hints of fruit but nowhere near as strong as it would have if it had been cooled and sweetened a bit. I think this would be a lovely summer iced tea, but hot, it missed the mark for me.

This was delicious! Smooth, creamy, with caramel flavor. It tasted like creme brulee – amazing!

I know Christina liked this too because she bought several tins from this vendor – including one of this.

Flavors: Caramel, Vanilla

Ooo, this sounds super tasty! I’ve never heard of Kanlo before…do they sell online?

drank Black Key Lime Pie by Sahpat Teas

The Sahpat folks had this has an infusion to taste, as opposed to brewed. It was WOW. The flavor hit me in the face. It was lime lime lime. Honestly it was actually a bit much for me, though I don’t know if that was because it was a cold day and I wanted something warm and not fruity, or because the flavor was too strong for my tastes.

I’ve only had one other lime tea before and did enjoy it, but in hindsight do remember thinking the lime was a bit strong. So it may be a bit of both – cold day and my own personal preferences.

I think others would be blown away by this. Especially if you love lime.

Flavors: Lime

Nicole

An infusion? As in a cold steep as opposed to a hot one? Sounds tasty.

Nicole

Oh, except for the stevia. Was it sweet?

Debbie

It wasn’t really. Very slightly sweetened, but I think it more helped bring out the lime flavor.

Bio

I’m a tea-aholic. I’ve always loved tea. It is soothing and warm and comforting. I always had it when we went out to eat as a child so my first association is with rich and delicious food.

As an adult, I’m learning to enjoy tea on its own merits, and bask in its subtleties and varieties. The ritual of making a cup of tea is instantly relaxing.

I prefer oolong and white teas, followed by greens. For the most part, I don’t like straight black tea, but appreciate it as part of a blend or flavored. I’ve learned to love the world of flavored teas out there.

I’m slowly learning to appreciate rooibos blends, which I started drinking for its anti-inflammatory properties.
