My first order from Fashionista Tea! I love how this tea smelled dry – creamy, earl grey, delicious. I was super excited waiting for this to steep.

Brewed, it is not nearly as creamy/vanilla-tasting as I would have expected given the smell. However, it’s still delicious.

I can’t help not comparing this to New Mexico Tea company’s Cream Earl Grey, and my memory said I preferred NM’s. So for science, I brewed the two teas together and did a taste test. And I can say I like them both. If I had to chose, I’d say I like Fashionista Tea’s more. It’s smoother, and while less creamy, also doesn’t have the artificial undertaste that I never noticed from NM’s before.

A friend gave me a bag of this. She in turn had picked it up from the freebie table at her workplace. And I never turn down free loose tea.

This is lovely. Light, just enough jasmine to satisfy without turning into perfume. It’s perfect.

I just looked at the Teaism website and it’s a bit pricier than I’m used to paying for jasmine tea (11.25/2 oz) but I’m glad to have this bag. Given the price and my knowledge of where to find similar or better quality for less, I probably won’t make my way down to their store in Penn Quarter to purchase more.

I got a small tin of this in the last TTB and decided to break into it. It wasn’t quite what I was expecting. Much sweeter than I wanted, almost syrupy. I think it would make a lovely iced tea in the summer, but it wasn’t quite what I was looking for in the dead of winter.

I’m also not quite sure what the melons were – looking at the picture, I can see honeydew and cantaloupe, though neither came through distinctly when I was drinking. I wonder if I can taste them now that I know they are both there?

Meh.
There wasn’t much earl grey flavor. In fact, all I tasted was rooibos.
I’ve been woefully underwhelmed by EnjoyingTea’s rooibos offerings and this was no different.

I was over at a friend’s and she offered me some tea. This was one of the very few non-Celestial Seasonings tea she had (not that I mind Celestial Seasonings, but I wanted something not herbal). So I chose this.

It was good. Not awful, but not amazing either. Slightly sweet, hints of vanilla and cinnamon, as advertised.

drank Chocolate Mint by Harney & Sons

I ordered a sample of this with my post Thanksgiving order, and finally tried it tonight. It’s perfect. Chocolatety and minty, and unlike the other chocolate mint teas I have in my cupboard, caffeinated.

I’m not sure what the other tea that was blended with the Lapsang Souchong was because I couldn’t taste anything but the Lapsang. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing – but I would have liked a bit more subtly to the flavor.

I bought this during H&S’s Black Friday sale. I had never tried it but it sounded tasty.

Of the various tea in my order, this was my least favorite of the bunch. It was still nice, but it probably won’t be something I will buy again. It’s nutty and chocolatety, but the rose flavor detracted from the yumminess a bit (it just seemed out of place).

drank SoHo Blend by Harney & Sons

I have returned from sunny warm climes of Santa Barbara!

Holy carp it’s cold. Brrrr. I’m seriously regretting getting on that plane yesterday. I could have pitched a tent on the beach, right, after my friend got tired of me and kicked me out of his house?

On the brightside, my Black Friday order from Harney & Sons was waiting for me, and I tore into it today. I contemplated my choices and grabbed the SoHo blend for a nice, warm, filling cup of tea on a winter’s day in the DC area. (Granted, it’s relatively warm for a winter’s day, but it’s cold enough I still couldn’t feel my fingers.)

Lovely. Pure bliss. It’s chocolately, nutty, and delicious. A perfect winter’s cup of tea.

I’m a tea-aholic. I’ve always loved tea. It is soothing and warm and comforting. I always had it when we went out to eat as a child so my first association is with rich and delicious food.

As an adult, I’m learning to enjoy tea on its own merits, and bask in its subtleties and varieties. The ritual of making a cup of tea is instantly relaxing.

I prefer oolong and white teas, followed by greens. For the most part, I don’t like straight black tea, but appreciate it as part of a blend or flavored. I’ve learned to love the world of flavored teas out there.

I’m slowly learning to appreciate rooibos blends, which I started drinking for its anti-inflammatory properties.

Love: Oolong, almond, coconut, peach
Hate: Ginger
