Another sample sent by Wymm Tea.

I’ve done a few infusions of this, and can probably get a few more. The initial infusion I found to be sweet and fruity. I didn’t notice any bitterness.

Later infusions I found some bitterness, but it not overpowering. The fruit notes seem to have dissipated, but I am still finding this to be surprisingly honey sweet and a little floral.

This latest infusion I’m finding some hay notes, and the ever present sweetness. The bitterness has subsided, and now only appears in the finish.

I am really enjoying this. It is so good. Thank you so much for the samples, Wymm!

I decided to cold brew this one. I think it’s impacting the flavour of it. It is a bit unusual. Must be gingko. I’ve never had gingko before, and I’m not sure if I’ll try it again. We’ll see. The citrus comes out in the aftertaste. It was ok. Maybe it would be different if it was hot brewed then iced.

Wymm Tea graciously sent me a few samples, and this is the first of four.

I found this to be a smooth, easy drinking pu-erh. The first couple of steeps I found the dried fruit notes, some woodiness with an earthy finish on the sip.

In the later steeps I found the woodiness became more prominent. The fruit notes diminished. The sweet, clean earthiness remained present.

I enjoyed this pu-erh and would happily drink this again. Thank you so much for the samples Tashi and Sgrodka!

Good morning :)

First cup of the day. Yum, as usual.

I have a huge amount of this stuff. I don’t understand my need to hoard it!

So I included this one the GCTTB, and I’m kind of sorry that I did. I didn’t try it before adding it, ‘cause I thought dark fermented tea? Should taste ok. Nope. I don’t like it. At all. It has an odd scent, which translates into the taste. I couldn’t even finish the cup. Dumped. My apologies to anyone who tries this tea and finds it as odd as I do.

I’m going to try it again tomorrow after a rinse and will hopefully find it more palatable.

I like heicha. Did you rinse it?

scribbles

No. I’ll give that a try tomorrow and re-edit if necessary.

mrmopar

Rinse for sure.

scribbles

OK. Will rinse and try again.

I couldn’t find Yinzhu silver needle green in the database, so I decided to review it here.

This poor tea. I wonder if it was in the box too long, or was contaminated by the other tea’s, but it sadly did not taste very good. I found in my first couple of sips a vegetal flavour, but it was too faint. Unfortunately, the tea tasted a little stale and perhaps somewhat contaminated. I think if this were fresher, it would have tasted a lot better.

I’m not one to go for mint tea’s usually, but I’ve tried a couple in the past and even enjoyed some of them, so decided to give this one a try. Looking at the dry leaf, I see cinnamon chips in it. Really? I thought this was supposed to be a mint tea.

The mint is mild, but evident. It tastes mostly of cinnamon, and as the cup cools, the licorice comes forward.

This is ok. David’s doesn’t sell it anymore (I think), so I’m happy to have tried it. Even if they did sell it, I probably wouldn’t feel the need to get any.

When they say this tea is bright – they are NOT KIDDING! Sweet, smooth, fruity and malty. As the cup cooled the fruit notes became even more pronounced. Delicious! Another Damn Fine tea!

Had this one as a cold brew. It was pretty true to flavour – juicy peaches. Delicious :)

I found this to be a nicely spiced tea. I found the licorice in the aftertaste, and it wasn’t so prominent to me, which is a good thing, since I don’t like tea’s with a strong licorice flavour. I didn’t get the brandy. Despite that, I still found this to be enjoyable, but not something that I would feel the need to own.

Bio

My tea journey started in 2012, when a friend gifted me some loose leaf. I guess she thought I was drinking too much coffee. Blown away by the amazing flavours I immediately embraced the loose leaf tea. I still drink coffee, but my main choice of beverage is now tea.

My tea preferences are blacks, pu’erhs, oolongs and greens.
