Another of the new tea from the Spring/Detox collection!!
I keep accidentally calling this tea by its development name – gotta break that habit!! It just so perfectly summed up the flavour of this tea though… Chamomile, mint, and cream!!
I actually go back and forth on whether or not I like this tea, so I’m probably not personally picking some up for myself. I think it’s a nice blend though for what it’s aiming to be; pretty soft/mellow and delicate (especially by DT standards) but not lacking in flavour either. The primary flavours are a combination of soft, soothing mint and silky cream notes, which coat the mouth and leave a gentle, lingering sweetness on the palate. There’s the tiniest bit of fruitiness coming from the currants/cassis flavouring. It’s the perfect level of flavour, as well as types of flavours, for a digestion oriented tea – which is supposed to be the function of this tea. I will say, I feel like that name makes it feel like there should be chocolate in the tea though and there’s not.
There is fennel and licorice root in this blend – I know that’s a very polarizing flavour, and even I am personally torn because I adore the taste of fennel but not of licorice root. I do think you can taste them both just slightly, but I’d say the fennel is just slightly stronger than the licorice root. Whether you’re into the flavour or not, I think they’re good ingredients to include if the goal is to have a good blend for digestion. I also feel like, as a person who doesn’t enjoy the taste of chamomile, this is a VERY approachable amount of chamomile that doesn’t at all bother me…
I’m fascinated to see what people think about this tea!
Friendly reminder that I do not numerically rate DAVIDsTEA blends as I’m currently employed there and it would be an obvious conflict of interest. Any blends you see with numerical ratings were rated prior to my employment there. These reviews are a reflection of my personal thoughts and feelings regarding the teas, and not the company’s.
