This tea definitely smelled like Forever Nuts and Kanpe combined. When steeped, it turns a bright berry colour (unlike Forever Nuts where it is a nice cute pink!). Drinking this I was expecting the tea to be a bit tart—but no! I am really surprised. I definitely taste the apples, pineapple, and papaya, but those are fairly weak compared to a carrot-y taste that I can taste throughout.

Overall, it’s not a terrible tea nor it is the best tea that I have tried. I need to try this iced!

As for all rooibos, they are not my favouite. From the bag, the tea smelled great—I really love the smell and taste of maple, so I thought this was one of the ones that I would like. When steeped, I could smell the maple. Unfortunately when really hot you can’t taste the maple flavour, but once it cooled down you could really tell.

I think so far this is one of the rooibos that I found easy to handle, normally I found that it doesn’t agree with my stomach because it makes my tummy do something funny. This is the best rooibos I have tried so far :)

drank Rooibos de Provence by DAVIDsTEA

To start off—I don’t like rooibos. I was recommended this tea from a friend. From the bag, it smells really amazing because of the berry smells. Unfortunately I can’t get over the taste—I’m not a big fan of it. I really hate to say this, but the taste reminds me a bit of soap. I really wanted to like this one, but unfortunately it won’t happen :(

A nutty green tea. From the bag you don’t smell much at all. I thought this would be a very light fruity tea, but I was wrong! Yun Cui has a grassy and nutty flavour to it—unfortunately not a fan of it. When steeped the tea is very light in colour, but has a mild taste. If you like Sencha Ashikubo, you might like this one too!

drank Green Mate (Organic) by DAVIDsTEA

I often drink this in powdered form. What I would do is take the powder, put it in my water bottle and shake for my mate drink. I would usually drink this cold.

Fast forward to now where I am drinking this hot. I actually like the taste that comes out more…very roasted and delicious. This tea definitely has potential. I don’t really know how to describe this…it’s has a very nice flavour to it! I am not a fan of the frequent bathroom trips though.

drank Pumpkin Chai by DAVIDsTEA

OK. I decided to give this a try again. My first impressions were that I couldn’t taste anything in the tea other than the black tea itself. Mind you though, I only got sips from my friends.

I gave it a go with a cup this time and realized that the pumpkin flavour pulls through really well! I wasn’t tasting black tea anymore, but fresh pumpkin! However, I think the ‘chai’ in its name is a little deceiving. There was no spice flavours that I could tell other than looking into the bag and smelling it. There were no spices tastes that would normally come in a chai. I think DT should’ve named this tea Pumpkin Pie instead of Pumpkin Chai.

Throw a small amount of brown sugar into this tea and you might get some more Chai flavour out of it. But I really think it tastes like Pumpkin Pie in a mug. And I really enjoy it. Had it as a Latte today made with Vanilla Almond Milk. Soooooo good.

drank Dragon Pearls by DAVIDsTEA

I have Dragon Pearls delivered from China and I will need to make some of that tea tonight to compare to this one. I also usually drink jasmine green tea when going for dim sum. Most of the time the dim sum tea is burnt, leaving a bitter taste. It is unfortunate that this is what I thought of tea my whole life…bitter and floral.

EDIT: I’ve tried the Dragon Pearls from China and it isn’t the same. It was too light that it tasted of only water, could not pick up on any of the jasmine. I guess DAVIDsTEA knows their stuff!

First off, I really love jasmine. It’s the flavour that I generally enjoy about green tea. The tea in the bag gives off a nice sweet floral scent and when steeped, it becomes more toned down, more delicate. First few sips were delightful. It’s not the same bitter dim sum tea that I am used to. You can definitely taste the jasmine and its delicious :)

drank Mom's Apple Pie by DAVIDsTEA

I decided to give this one another go. My first impression wasn’t as great (I hardly tasted anything, couldn’t make out the apple). So I purchased this yesterday in hopes that it redeems itself. And quite surprisingly—it did. I definitely got more of an apple pie taste this time than the last time (I think it was because they gave me enough tea for a cup, but my mug was fit for two!)

I got the delicious taste of apples and cinnamon and although it was watery, my mind was thinking about the rich and creaminess of the pie filling :)

It tastes yummy, but definitely not a favourite. I won’t be repurchasing (maybe I will in the future)

The first time that I smelled this type of tea was several years ago when a roommate showed me some tea she bought. I thought it smelled interesting because it was a strong sharp smell, nothing of the ordinary. I never got a taste of it, but I happened to cross its path every so often years later.

I eventually picked up this tea from a local tea shop because the bf was interested in it. The version from that store was very sharp and strong, difficult for me to take in. I thought my time with any Lapsang Souchongs were over.

Because of the tea challenge that I am doing, I decided to pick up this tea after skipping it for the past month and a half. I didn’t have any intention of liking it lol I opened the bag—smells exactly the same, smokiness (always reminds me of smoked salmon more than anything). Take a sip…think about it. Not as bad as I thought! I didn’t get the sharp taste like I did with the other tea, so I am a little relieved that I won’t be tossing this one out!

I wonder if this will become my to go tea eventually.

I’m not really getting the sweet and floral taste that most are claiming. I got more of a nuttier, grassier taste.

Anyhow, with that aside, I was quite surprised with the flavour I got. I was hoping for a smooth flavour like the rest of the oolongs that I have tried. To me, it’s ok. I’m not a huge fan of grassy and nutty notes combined just because I find it a little too strong for my tongue.
