I had high hopes given the chocolatey bits in this tea but this is just a semi-chocolate tea. Nothing special but still interesting to try. Thank you mewakeling!

I was worried this would be over-the-top vegetal given the leaf but honestly it is just a smooth, slightly sweet, slightly vegetal drink. It is very, very subtle though and not something I would reach for often. It was fun to try though so thank you Lala.

This has a great almond flavor. If only the rose were not here, this cup would be 10x better.

Having this iced and it tastes very much like a fuzzy peach/ peach ring candy. Delicious! Thank you Christina for the opportunity to try this tasty treat.

Thank you Jeweled Thumb for the chance to try this tea but it just isn’t for me. It is a fine enough black but I am missing the malt and dessert notes I tend to reach for when picking a straight black. Oh well. You never know unless you try.

drank Purple Tea of Kenya by Butiki Teas

At first when I was drinking this, I didn’t get much flavor but then I saw “chicken soup” on the flavor list and oddly enough, I agree. It is subtle but definitely reminiscent of the no sodium added Campell’s chicken stock. Granted, that tastes mostly like water as well so when trying this out, don’t expect a big punch of flavor. Anyways, it was fun to try but one cup is all I need.

Butiki Teas

I highly recommend trying 1/2 teaspoon for 8oz of water at boiling temperature for 5 minutes. This tea completely morphs flavors depending on how it is prepared. It can taste like a green, oolong, or black tea. Definitely recommend experimenting a bit.

drank Mulberry White Tea by RiverTea

GCTTB Rd 3:

I have tried this before and really enjoyed it so I took the opportunity to get reacquainted and experience it in a new way: iced. Honestly, hot or cold, this tastes the same…delicious! It has notes of caramel from the mulberry that pair amazingly with the other fruits present in the cup. Really, really good and I am grateful to Christina for the chance to try it again :).

ETA: I am getting a lot more base as I drink this iced so in future, I may stick to hot brews. Though, for those who enjoy the taste of the white tea base, iced may be the way to go.

I still have to send you your teas; I could definitely be persuaded to add more of this to the package if you want me to :)

VariaTEA

Thank you for offering but I think I am good for now. I have an unopened bag of Gold Rush I really should start working on. In other news, I was going to send you a package tomorrow but I want to add the Crio Bru’s and only 1/6 packages is open so I am going to wait to add those. Hope you are cool with this plan :P

Sounds good to me :) Gives me time to sip stuff down.

Having this iced and it is definitely a melon tea but at the end of the day, I can’t help but compare it to Cantaloupe & Cream and it just doesn’t measure up. It is nice though so thank you Christina for the chance to try something new.

drank Strawberry Champagne by RiverTea

Thank you Christina for the chance to try yet another RiverTea. This one is pleasant enough but a bit on the bland side for my tastes. Also, I am definitely getting a lot of floral notes that are slightly undercut by strawberry juiciness. However, to find those notes, it takes a bit more concentration than I would like to have to use. Still, it was fun to try and now I know this isn’t for me.

A friend came over to drive me to work and so I offered to make her tea. I asked what she was in the mood for and her response was “cold, fruity tea”. I have her a few options and she settled on this one. I brewed up enough for us both because I realized I, myself, have yet to try this tea.

So now that I have tried it, all I can say is if I were doing a blind taste test, I would definitely say this had mango but the pomegranate was lost on me :(. I will try it hot and see if it differs but as an iced tea, I found myself sort of disappointed.

TeaLady441

I like it hot, but have never had it iced. Hope it works out.

My cupboard has grown exponentially since joining this site and I have a lot to share. Feel free to snoop through my cupboard and message me if anything interests you – I am always happy to swap!

For me, flavored teas are definitely my sweet spot. I will most often reach for black teas and rooibos or honeybush blends but I do keep some flavored whites and greens around for when the mood strikes. I have a few herbals/tisanes but most of the time I find myself disappointed by them as they often smell deliciously sweet and then end up tasting tart/sour. I have a little bit of an aversion to pu’erh and oolong teas. I am also wary of florals, earl greys, and chai teas. I do not like overpowering citrus flavors nor do I usually like hibiscus, licorice or chamomile. I love dessert teas – caramel, vanilla, toffee, cookie, cream, and other sweet flavors make me smile. Fruits like strawberry, peach, mango, and pineapples will often catch my attention as well.

I have also realized that although I really enjoy adding frothed milk to some of my teas, if I do not like the tea with zero additives (just in plain water without milk or sugar), I probably won’t drink it. The one exception is flavored matchas which I will happily drink in cold milk if I do not like it mixed with hot water. My theory is if the tea can’t stand on its own then it is not for me and I will more than likely try to swap it out for something else.

Tea Ratings Guide (as of December 10, 2017)
90-100 Teas I NEED on hand at all times
80-89 Teas I want to keep around for a cup every now and then
70-79 Teas I am glad I have around and can experiment with but probably don’t need more than what’s in my cupboard
60-69 Teas I would not turn down a cup of from a friend but that would probably be enough
50-59 Teas I can see why someone would enjoy but are not for me
Under 50 Teas I really did not like and most likely got dumped
