6444 Tasting Notes
So I had a feeling this would be nice iced and today I know for sure. It is juicy and sweet and has a great fruity flavor from the strawberry and mango. However, at the end if the day, despite enjoying this tea, I just don’t reach for it often given it’s a white tea so I will add it to the GCTTB as an iced tea and hopefully others will enjoy it too. So long Sunset! It’s been nice :)
GCTTB Rd 3:
This is definitely an interesting herbal. It is sweet, tart, and spicy all in one. The hibiscus hits your tongue first but orange follows shortly after adding a citrus flare as opposed to a hibby tart and then the slight cinnamon flavor pushes it’s way through giving you a touch of spice. All the while the almond and vanilla mellows out all the competing flavors to keep them from overpowering the whole cup. Definitely an interesting cup so thank you mewakeling for the chance to try it out.

This tea is really nice. It’s creamy for sure and has an amazing caramel sweetness that pairs perfectly with the smooth base. I am really enjoying this cup and am almost tempted to steal the rest from the box but I feel others should get a chance to enjoy it too. Thank you Calla for sharing :)

Well, this is certainly a passionfruit tea. No mistaking that. It is juicy and sweet and true to the fruit. It is a touch watered down but that may have been user error when it came to measurements. I am interested in seeing how this fares hot as well. Back into the pile of teas to try from the box. Thank you Jeweled Thumb for sharing :)

Apparently “paradise” is a big punch of hibiscus to the face. Who knew? Perhaps I should have read the ingredients list and had this iced/cold brewed to tone down the hibby tartness because hot, that is all I am getting. Nonetheless, thank you Jeweled Thumb for the opportunity to try this discontinued blend.

I don’t usually expect much from tea bags and I have gotten used to maple teas disappointing me so you can imagine my surprise when I took a sip and immediately got a mouthful of thick, sweet maple goodness. Shocking and delicious. However, as I continue to drink, the maple slowly fades leaving a fairly mediocre black tea in it’s place. Still, it was an enjoyable cup while it lasted so thank you mewakeling for sharing :)

Jeweled Thumb was kind enough to add some of her healthy lemonade teas into the TTB for us all to try: a combination of Adagio’s Green Citron, Wild Strawberry, and Lemongrass. Being lazy and not wanting to wait for the water to cool to brew the green, I altered the recipe and did two parts wild strawberry and one part lemongrass and then poured it over ice. The result? A fruity start to the sip which slowly gives way to a touch of hibby tartness only to end on a crisp lemon note. It’s actually quite interesting though I feel I may have been better off going with a 1:1 ratio of each tea. Ultimately I probably won’t drink this again but it was certainly fun to try. When I first joined steepster, this was one the teas I received in my very first swap courtesy of the amazing Dexter. Back when all I knew how to do was boil the kettle, dump boiling water on all the teas and wait like 20 minutes for tea to steep. Iced teas and cold brews were mere myths on my radar so when I tried this and the hibiscus took over, all I could do was power through my sample with my puckered face. Luckily I have learned one or two things from that amazing introduction to the tea world.
As I brewed this up, I immediately grabbed some ice cubes and decided to see how the cold temperature might affect the hibby. The result? An only slightly tart tea. Alas, without the tartness, there really isn’t much else going on in this cup. It is pleasant enough that I don’t mind drinking it but I think this tea and I can officially part ways for good. Nonetheless, thank you mewakeling for the chance to experiment with an old acquaintance.

You know you gotta be just a little bit tired when you search for a tea by the phrase “Ruby Red Christina” because that’s who put it in the box so obviously steepster must know which tea I mean. Anyways, thank you Christina for the opportunity to try this tea. It says it is an apple/currant rooibos but I am just getting currant, though it is a bit smoother/less medicinal than other currant teas I have had so maybe that is how the apple plays into it? Ultimately though, this tea isn’t something I would reach for given I am not a currant lover so it will continue to travel with the box. It was fun to try though :)
