So when I made this for the bubble tea it was WAAAAAYYYY too floral but that was also due to the instant boba pack. So I’m giving it another chance in a hot latte that I made with a vanilla frothed sweet cream. Its so good!! A pumpkin London Fog that is just perfect! Creamy? Check. Vanilla? Check. Bergamot? Check, but not overly floral and not bitter or oily. Spiced? Check. Everything you could have wanted and more for an awesome Fall drink. Now I just need the cooler temperatures, changing leaves, and cozy sweaters to match.

Yay, I still have some of this from last year!

Used this for bubble tea and I think something in the bubble tea reads as floral which is conflicting with the smokiness of the lapsang. This is better than yesterday’s but still not great and it’s just a matter of finding the right tea for the flavour of the bubble tea packet.

I made this as a bubble tea and the cardamom pairs well with the brown sugar boba but there is a really strong floral note that is throwing this off. It’s more berg than expected bust also the floral doesn’t immediately read bergamot to me so I am wondering if there is a weirdness when combined with the bubble tea.

Thank you Sil for the share! This was middle of the road, as you suggested.

When I opened the steeped tea container, I got a lot of cinnamon in the scent for some reason but then the flavour just fell flat. It’s smooth and inoffensive but also is missing something to really stand out/round this out. I get maybe some berry and some cocoa perhaps. But not as bitter as you’d expect with that flavour combo. It’s not super malty. It seems at times like it maybe wanted to be spiced or smoked and just isn’t. Like it’s not bad but just seems to fall short of actually having a notable flavour profile.

Fun to try. Easy to drink. Forgettable.

When I was in Montreal I tried both smoked and spiced maple syrup and they were delicious. The spiced was packaged better for travel to bring it home so I got a jar. Today, I had woken up early as a friend swung by on her way to New York to ask me to a bridesmaid. Since I was awake, we decided to make French toast topped with bananas and whipped cream to go with the spiced maple syrup. It was sooo good and made even better by this tea, which Sil kindly gave me. Thank you!

This tea is mild and smooth. Slight smoke. Syrupy but with a darker depth as opposed to a caramel or honey sweetness.

Made this iced and topped it with brown sugar cinnamon cold foam and it’s ok but mostly just cinnamon and black tea.

Teapop Sipdown (212)

These Chami teas are cheap tea bags which doesn’t give me the impression that they’re super high quality. That and the fact that I don’t usually care for green tea, let alone plain green tea, I wasn’t sure how I’d be using this tea. Then I had fresh berries and blackberry Perrier and decided I could make a berry iced tea/teapop.

I muddled blueberries and strawberries, added ice, steeped this for 2 minutes at 175F and poured the steeped tea over the berries and ice, then topped it all with the blackberry Perrier. This is good thanks to the berries and Perrier. Super refreshing. It gets grassy at times, which is from the tea, and makes me feel I made the right choice burying the tea among other flavours.

Strange VariaTEA TTB: Tea 22

This is a sparkly tea which means it’s fun to look at. Taste wise, it’s like all the other apple/hibiscus tisanes – generically fruity. I get apple, tartness from the hibiscus and at times raisin, which is odd.

drank Honeyed Lemon by 52teas

Made this and put it on top of a blend of watermelon and mint. Unfortunately as I was making the drink, I was pretty confident I had too much of my watermelon/mint blend so this largely tastes of watermelon and not much lemon. A good drink. A bad representation of the tea.

My cupboard has grown exponentially since joining this site and I have a lot to share. Feel free to snoop through my cupboard and message me if anything interests you – I am always happy to swap!

For me, flavored teas are definitely my sweet spot. I will most often reach for black teas and rooibos or honeybush blends but I do keep some flavored whites and greens around for when the mood strikes. I have a few herbals/tisanes but most of the time I find myself disappointed by them as they often smell deliciously sweet and then end up tasting tart/sour. I have a little bit of an aversion to pu’erh and oolong teas. I am also wary of florals, earl greys, and chai teas. I do not like overpowering citrus flavors nor do I usually like hibiscus, licorice or chamomile. I love dessert teas – caramel, vanilla, toffee, cookie, cream, and other sweet flavors make me smile. Fruits like strawberry, peach, mango, and pineapples will often catch my attention as well.

I have also realized that although I really enjoy adding frothed milk to some of my teas, if I do not like the tea with zero additives (just in plain water without milk or sugar), I probably won’t drink it. The one exception is flavored matchas which I will happily drink in cold milk if I do not like it mixed with hot water. My theory is if the tea can’t stand on its own then it is not for me and I will more than likely try to swap it out for something else.

Tea Ratings Guide (as of December 10, 2017)
90-100 Teas I NEED on hand at all times
80-89 Teas I want to keep around for a cup every now and then
70-79 Teas I am glad I have around and can experiment with but probably don’t need more than what’s in my cupboard
60-69 Teas I would not turn down a cup of from a friend but that would probably be enough
50-59 Teas I can see why someone would enjoy but are not for me
Under 50 Teas I really did not like and most likely got dumped
