Smells like Green Tea Tropical, tastes ooogles better from any mate I’ve tried. Usually I get such a “coffee like” flavor from mate, but that is not the case here. I like it!

drank English Breakfast by Stash Tea

Picking up a term I’ve seen used here: meh. I’ll drink it but I do like Twining’s version much better. Just felt like giving Stash a try since their selection is hit or miss here and I take what I can get sometimes!

Depeche Mode’s song “I Just Can’t Get Enough” sufficiently sums up how I feel about this tea. I just can’t get enough and always say I’m just going to have “one more cup”.

Seriously dying to compare this to Barry’s, though, since I hear that is the tea of choice in Ireland. Just can’t decide which one I should get- the Barry’s “Gold” or the “Original” that comes in the green box. Then I’ll let Twining’s and Barry’s duke it out for my morning start :)

laurenpressley

Ooh, I hadn’t heard of Barry’s before! I’m a big fan of trying the teas that are popular in big tea drinking areas. I’ll have to look into this one!

Rena Sherwood

Great — now I have Depeche Mode stuck in my head. Anyway, Barry’s Gold is FAB. Store it in a cool, dry place and it’ll last for years. That being said, I haven’t had Twining’s Irish Breakfast in ages.

rabbysmom

haha, glad to help Rena ;) Thanks for suggesting the Barry’s Gold. Went by World Market this week and didn’t see it like I was hoping too. Next time I see it I’ll be sure to pick it up!

Dravistich

I got four bags of the Irish Breakfast that I don’t want. You want ’em?

Got another one of these tea bags in a sample from a gift my sister sent me. Tastes richer than I remember. I’m currently waiting on an order I placed with Mighty Leaf that has a green tea assortment box. Can’t wait to try other types. Apparently my order is slowly crawling across the country from California to South Carolina. S-L-O-W UPS Ground service! Ugh!

Bethany

I’ve had a similar problem with Mighty Leaf – their shipping times and delivery are slowww. Maybe I’ve just been spoiled by Adagio.

rabbysmom

And it’s STILL not here! Was stalking the UPS driver yesterday. Supposed to be delivered today but I’m not counting on it:)

Really hard to drink this today after getting used to my travel tin of Honey Ginseng Green by Republic of Tea!

Upon another try this morning and then checking out my previous review, I can’t help but laugh. Was I truly saying I preferred Bigelow’s English Breakfast to this? A whole leaf tea bag compared to a measly tea bag which is fine in it’s own right but certainly not in the same category? Hahaha. I have to laugh at myself. :)

This tasted really good this morning. Getting ready to have a second steep- love that about Mighty Leaf.

smile I tried a bag of Taylors of Harrogate English Breakfast the other day, and it was way more bitter than my good old Twining tea bags…but who knows, maybe it was a dud bag? hehe

Angrboda

:D How experienced are you with loose/whole leaf? Forgive me, I can’t remember if you’re one of the people who has stepped out of the bagged comfort zone recently or not. If you are then maybe it’s a question of having gained experience. If not then maybe you were just in a different sort of mood that day. :)

1st cup this morning finishing up sample tin. Not bad, but I’m currently enjoying my second cup from a whole leaf tea bag which is clearly superior.

The more I choose tea over coffee in the morning, the more I realize that I must invest in an electric kettle. It’s torture to wait the 3 and a half minutes it takes my microwave to boil water, especially when I’m desperately in need of a wake up. The coffee pot’s instant caffeine is tempting this morning (hubby still requires coffee), but I waited b/c I gave in yesterday to the convenience of coffee and it just tasted horrible. Starting back to work in a little over a week and really need to figure out a way to speed up this process. Besides getting up earlier, any suggestions? Any recommendations on reasonable tea kettles here in the US?

gmathis

I have a little Sunbeam Hot Shot 1-cup warmer; does a cup in a little less than a minute; gets it just past boiling point. It’s a good “it’ll-do” when I don’t have time in the mornings to do a real kettle on the stove.

Bethany

Buying an electric kettle has totally changed my tea-drinking and making habits. I drink way more at home now! I have a utiliTEA from Adagio; it’s $50 and well worth it. But Amazon has some good cheap options, as well.

Nottobeusedanymore

Are electric kettles not very common in the US? Virtually every home in Britain has one.

rabbysmom

@gmathis and Bethany, thanks! I’ve actually looked at both of your suggestions. Really considering the utiliTEA b/c it has the ability to choose temps which is really appealing to me since I drink black and green tea daily.

@Stoggler, electric kettles are not common. I have never even met a person in my whole life who has one, LOL amazing, huh? I remember the first time I saw an electric kettle was when I went to London in college:)

Shanti

I’ve heard good things about the utiliTEA kettle…personally I use the Zarafina tea maker suite, which used to be $40 dollars on amazon and is now being sold for $159 (I think because of Christmas)….I’m happy with it, although I think a kettle might be more useful, since you can customize the time. I think Adagio’s TriniTEA maker lets you do that as well.

Nottobeusedanymore

Electric kettles in Britain can be very cheap – £10 or so for some (so about $15). Of course, you wouldn’t be able to use a British kettle in the US due to the differing electricity supplies.

rabbysmom

@ Stoggler, it’s unbelievable how much kettles are here. I just looked in a local store and everyone there was over $30 and all one temp. The only cheap one was $10 and it looked like a piece of junk :) Think I’ll hold out for the utilitea.

@Shani- I was looking at the Zarafina a month or so ago- seems like it’s nice!

Trying to use this up from my sample tin. Twinings still wins and I will pick that up when I’m done with this. Still, a good pick me up for mid afternoon. Just kind of blah. I could pick up on the lingo and say this needs more cow bell, LOL. Every time I read that I can’t help but think of the skit on SNL with Will Ferrell. I’m assuming this is where the term came from? Could be wrong!

Kitch3ntools

i too think of that skit so it makes me laugh every time i see it :)

Sweet Orange Dulce back in my life after an extended absence, or so it seemed to me. Drinking out of my new Mighty Leaf Tea Top Brew Mug- sleek, convenient, and currently keeping my beloved tea so hot that I can barely drink it! This is just as good as I remember it and even better now that I have my little brew mug that is oh so handy :)

drank Pomegranate Pizzaz by Bigelow
92 tasting notes

Ummm, sweet would be the word for this one! Ok upon first few sips when it’s hot, but it really just gets to be too much. Never would have chosen this myself- Mom got for me and had it at her house. Now I’ve made it iced in an effort to get rid of it. Better iced, but still not my favorite.

Angrboda

I keep reading that as pomegranate pizza… O.o

teaplz

I read it as Pomegranate Pizza about 4x before I actually got it. And I kept thinking, EWWWW.

rabbysmom

LOL! Luckily it is not pizza flavored :)
