This site has lots of seating, inside, outside and downstairs. I’ve been there a couple of times and always had friendly service.

Wasn’t crowded at all, though the staff seemed extremely clueless about their most popular Chai tea. One woman even recommended the “pumpkin chai” yet she described it as bland right before she recommended it as her personal favorite.

Love, love, love this place. Great to go to for socializing or for sitting quietly to write. I’m constantly falling in love with new chais here. A small pot of good tea will cost you less than five bucks and keep you happy for an hour or two. The wi-fi is free and strong. The bathroom is nice.

It’s easy to miss that there’s an entire second level in the basement (with ground-level windows, so it still has natural light). That area has a completely different feel to it, so if you’re not wanting the classic cafe bustle with the walls full of windows looking out on the street and the sound of milk steaming away, the basement might be for you. A quieter, more hippie vibe down there. My group plopped on some beanbags in a corner last time we were there.

As any serious tea shop must have, there’s a wall of small jars of each tea to look at and smell before you buy. They’ve added to their food selection recently and also do kombucha (soooo not my thing, but it might be yours!). Their website is also a great place to check out their brewing tips if you purchase some of their loose leaf at home. They’re kind enough to even share how they make their chais so addictively delicious.

In case it’s not clear yet, this is my favorite Portland tea house right now.

I get Townshend mixed up with Tea Chai Te a lot. They’re super similar. This is a comfortable tea lounge with a good selection of teas and bubble tea. It’s a good place to come to sit and chat with a friend or two, or to read a book.

I came here on a whim. It’s a lovely place with some great options. I picked up a bit of Silver Needle sheng puer on a whim and sat. It’s a bit more urban than I’m used to, but that’s part of its appeal; catering to more of a college-age crowed (which I’m most definitely not).
