I’ve been wanting to try “Eight at the Fort” ever since I read about it:

In June of 1997, President Bill Clinton hosted a G8 (Group of Eight) summit in Denver. One of the events was at a friend’s restaurant: the Arnold’s The Fort that is high above the city. We were commissioned to do a special tea for that event. So we carefully chose eight special teas that would combine together in the hope of a better future.

I decided to dig around on the interwebs and see if I could find this restaurant, and I DID! It hardly has the looks of anything elegant, and at first I found it hard to believe that a G8 was held there … but it’s true. I am very impressed with this tea. Smooth, almost velvet-like. Just a really good cuppa. WONDERFUL.

My favorite of the five I ordered. Fruity without being overpowering. Mellow but tasty. The first strawberry tea I think I’ve ever tried? It was pretty good :)

Chili powder, peppers and rooibos! WOW. I guess it’s pretty obvious why I ordered this one. This would be a great blend to drink sick, as it’s peppery and would probably help your sinuses. I did initially like this one, but once it cooled off a bit it got bitter and undrinkable. Pity!

A mix of black and green tea, peppermint and bergamot oil, Casablanca is a lovely tea. I must admit I only bought this because of Humphrey Bogart. I was having major tummy troubles yesterday, and this tea helped a bit. I’ve never tasted anything quite like this before and I truly enjoyed it. Unfortunately, I am not a big fan of this tea company so it probably won’t be a re-order.

Something about this time of year gets me in the mood to drink as much earl grey as I can, it truly is one of my favorite types of tea. This tea is one of New Mexico Tea Company’s bestsellers so I was eager to try it. I was just so unimpressed with this blend. There’s no cream in this as far as I could tell, it’s floral and tastes mainly of cornflowers. Give it a go, you might like it.

I was in the mood to try a plain, black breakfast tea, straight up pure. This tea isn’t bad, but it’s nothing to write home about. It tasted just like any other cheap breakfast tea except without nuances of flavors. For the price, $3.00/ounce, you can do better. For my money, I prefer Upton Tea’s River Shannon Breakfast Blend, Yorkshire Gold or even the old standard PG Tips. This tea is average and I will finish what I got, but it’s not a repurchase.

drank Tower of London by Harney & Sons

I bought the tin with the sachets. What a lovely tin it is! This is going to sound crazy, but this tea tastes similar to Harney & Son’s Paris, only better and more mellow. It must be the addition of honey to this one. It has a beautiful color when steeped. If I had to choose this over Paris I would choose this one. Bliss.

This tea has been on my amazon wish list for about a year, and I was lucky enough to receive 2 tins of them for christmas last year (thanks, Mickey & Devon)! This a hugely popular tea among tea drinkers, and one of Harney’s best sellers. According to their website : “This tea smells like an early grey with black currant and vanilla aromas and a hint of caramel.” I can’t say I smell the same things. This tea is definitely different – it’s like nothing I’ve ever had. Somewhat floral (I don’t like floral teas) somewhat fruity, somewhat … tea? It’s a taste and aroma I can’t quite put my finger on. It’s somewhat reminiscent, somewhat new. Do I like it? Yes, but it’s not something I would drink all day long, but it IS something I would reach for on a regular basis. I’m over the moon I have back up supplies!! One can never have enough tea. Another bonus is that whenever I drink this, I think of a scene from “Father Ted” when Father Ted starts singing “I love Paris …. in the springtime….” HA

This tea is popular for a reason! Try it!

You know how honey flavored teas taste weird?

This does not. It tastes like you just put a spoonful of honey in your cup! It’s one of favorite teas ever. Sheer bliss in a cup when you need something simply basic but comforting.

I decided to give The Tea Table another try – I had ordered from them a while back and was only over the moon with one of their teas – Orange Cookie Tea. THAT tea is so delicious I had to order it again, but everything else I ordered left me cold.

I’m SO glad I did! Maybe I got a bad order last time, maybe I chose the wrong flavors, but this time I have been so impressed wth the selections.

Triple Threat Temptation is AMAZING! Seriously! Chocolate, coconut, creamy goodness for reals! Next time I’m adding a bit of heavy cream or milk

Bio

I’m an impatient, weird, overly giggly redhead. I’m obsessed with British stuff and have a love for tea (obviously). I enjoy reading novels when time allows it, but most of the time I can be found searching for BBC crime shows on Netflix.

My favorite teas are black, flavored, herbal and iced. I also like some green and some rooibos.

I only review teas once and I don’t log a tea every time I drink it. Ain’t nobody got time for that.
