1113 Tasting Notes
So, I used this beautiful tea in my tea photo project but I’ve never written a note on it? WTF? https://www.etsy.com/listing/192822968/beautiful-tea-poster-photography-collage
This tea came to me from boychik. THANKS! I love exploring these gorgeous yunnans. This one is not as sugary sweet as I expected based on its appearance. There are haylike flavors that remind me of a white tea, with malty and mushroomy notes asserting that this is indeed a black. It is also pretty mellow like a silver needle white. Thick and creamy too. Really interesting beast this one. And of course the dry leaf is just gorgeous.
This tea is ridiculously good. I got a sample with my birthday order before the tea was named. I drank one cup plain a week or so ago and hoarded the other half of the sample till today, and I am drinking this cup lightly sweetened. To me the espresso manifests itself as just a richer deeper chocolate flavor. (kind of like a cake recipe I tried once with a tiny bit of espresso powder added, doesn’t taste like coffee, just richer chocolate! Don’t be scared, coffee haters!) The strawberry and chocolate seem very well balanced and with sugar the cake-vibe is definitely enhanced, though it was rich and creamy and VERY delicious even without. I love the assertive assam base. This is one of the best chocolate+fruit teas ever! Really great stuff. Can’t rave about it enough!
Preparation
I’m declaring today Drink Whatever Makes Me Happiest Day.
So I started my day with this made with raw milk :)
Nom Nom Nom
I am out of milk. I need to stop and get some on my way home because I’ve been craving a matcha latte all week. (Yes, I’ve been out of milk for a week now.)
I drank this tea this morning, but then was pretty swamped at work and didn’t get to write about it until just now. Lots of coworkers on vacation right now, we don’t actually have more work to do, just less artists!
Anyway, thanks so much boychik for the sample. This was DELICIOUS though I do not remember details. Very very nice though!
This is really wonderful flavored oolong! Thanks so much Marzipan for the sample.
I love fruity oolongs iced in the summer. I made a cup at lunch hot poured over ice, and will likely cold brew the rest of my sample in a big pitcher :D
The raspberry flavor is nice and natural and the oolong seems high quality with a slight floral overtone.
This is a mysterious looking little wiry black tea. Quite magical when steeped! Rich and satisfying and complex enough to keep my interest. Chocolatey, malty, and fruity sweet!
Great stuff. I’m going to hoard the rest of the sample boychik sent me. Thanks!!
Edited to state that I’m REALLY loving the lingering aftertaste of this tea….mmmmm!
I love the collage, so pretty
My kitchen wall loves it.
Lucky you! :)
