1113 Tasting Notes
This is my first time trying a flavored mate. It has a very pleasant natural orange/fruity flavor that blends with the distinctive mate taste nicely. Plain green mate tastes like green beans to me! I’m not finished with the cup yet but looking forward to the mate kick ;)
I was a little worried about this one when I smelled it dry. It smells like it is going to be WAY too fruity, and almost has a fakey fruit smell. But once I steeped it I felt totally different. The red fruit flavors are very natural and not overpowering. This is not a “punch you in the face” with fruit flavor type of tea. I like it when you can actually taste the tea under the added flavors! It tastes like red fruit AND black tea and I think accomplished exactly what they were trying to do with the flavor.
Try steeping this one in vodka and making a citron martini! That is my favorite thing to do with this tea :) http://www.drinksmixer.com/drink10114.html
This was my first experience with a Lapsang. I can see why this variety is so divisive! It smells very strongly of campfire. The taste is rich black tea with a natural smokey aftertaste. I think this works really well together! I enjoy it but I think I’d have to be in the right mood to drink it again.
