1113 Tasting Notes
Oh my goodness! This one is special! I’m so sad I only have one tiny sample pack!
The front of the sip is malty and sweet and rich, but the back of the sip has a long lingering dark stone fruity aftertaste on the back of my tongue, almost like a Dancong oolong or a sheng puerh. It’s crazy! So good! I wish I had gotten one of the free $10 gift cards so I could order more. Very unique :)
I also remember really liking one of TeaVivre’s Fenqging shengs, so perhaps I’m just in love with teas from there?
Thanks to Marzipan again for the sample!
WHOA smokey minty tea, eh? Interesting…not really getting any berry. That’s ok though. Not sure this is a tea I would ever crave (I’m picky and weird about mint teas) but I am enjoying it and appreciate its uniqueness :)
Next time I’ll try sweetening it and see if it changes much for me.
Ah! I was wondering cause I did not remember smoke at all from it so I went to fix myself a cup…zero smoke. Did you use to blend this one with lapsang Brenden?
Thanks for the sample Marzipan!
Everyone is right, this is very good stuff! Rich, sweet malty and full of cocoa goodness. I feel a Whispering Pines order in the future…my husband is in love with Golden Orchid :)
I keep offering mine teas I think he would like while I’m drinking them, or sniffs of teas that I think he’ll like when I get them. Every once in a while now he’ll ask me for some tea.
i get notes of apricot skin, dryness on the tongue and lingering flavor on the back of my throat. Somewhat sweet with a pleasant bitterness, and a bit “darker” tasting than most shengs. Not dark like a black tea or a shu, I’m really not sure how to describe it! I do not have the words for this…FAIL.
Great tea buzz from this one though :) TEA ENERGY FTW
I’m pretty sure the sample of this I’m drinking was from boychik Thanks!!!
I’m glad to get to revisit this one. It was one of the teas that made me think oxidized oolongs aren’t really my thing. I LOVE a good Dancong, but this one is darker and less complex. I get woody plummy notes, and a nice sweetness. It is pleasant and everything, but just doesn’t blow me away like some teas do :)
I have to revisit. I think I have another sample. I tried Da hong Pao recently and it just blew my mind. I thought I was in a happy place with my Yunnan blacks and Puerh… Sigh…
i should put it on my wishlist;)
Glad I ordered more.
I loved this one too! :-)
